Looking to find out who won Jeopardy! tonight? Today’s Jeopardy! results will go up on this page late afternoon, with full stats early evening. They will be seen in the comments section at the bottom of this page.

Originating in India, jodhpurs were designed to improve conditions when horseback riding. When Pratap Singh visited England for the Diamond Jubilee with his polo team in 1897, the jodhpurs became quite a sensation, especially considering that the polo team won a great number of its matches.

Also, a reminder that Jeopardy! rules specifically provide that any misspellings in Final Jeopardy must be phonetically correct and not add or subract syllables.

With a projected 83 regular-play games to go prior to the Tournament of Champions cutoff, after 250,000 simulations, our model shows:
An average of 3.0799 5+-time champions (standard deviation 1.3595).
An average of 4.7514 4+-time champions (standard deviation 1.6575).
An early cutoff took place 14.524% of the time (or a 5-game winner will be left out).
Kevin Shrum qualified 11.952% of the time.
Tim Kutz qualified 61.103% of the time.
Todd Giese qualified 20.799% of the time.
Rob Liguori qualified 4.350% of the time.
Fred Vaughn qualified 0.810% of the time.

    Miscellany:

    • This is the 17th consecutive game in which we did not see all 61 clues. The modern record is 19 consecutive.
    • Adam’s response of “Treehouse of Horrors” was presumably accepted by the judges as the clue referred to multiple episodes, thus, pluralizing the titie was permitted, as he was referring to all of them.
    • The most recent defending champion to fail to reach Final Jeopardy in regular play: Philip Tiu on March 17, 2016.
  2. Oh, my, a very prescient rule reminder from Andy “Nostradamus” Saunders. The one thing the reminder doesn’t mention is that even though misspellings can result in an allowed answer, there’s no rule to prevent a contestant from looking a bit silly on national TV ….

  3. Delighted to see Chief Shrum on Jeopardy! Told my wife, “We shared a cubicle at Pope and he turned me on to science fiction”. I’m still reading sci-fi today and I remember the Chief saying he envied my getting to read “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress” for the first time. Great guy. I miss him and the 2 o’clock Coke flip.
