Correct response: What is the Equator?

Did you know that you can now find game-by-game stats of everyone, including Austin Rogers, who has won 10 or more games on Jeopardy!, here on the site?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

There are many equatorial markers located on the Equator, ostensibly to attract tourism to the respective areas. Other African markers can be found in Kenya, Gabon, and São Tomé and Príncipe; in South America, Ecuador has no fewer than four.

Not having seen the game yet when I’m doing this write-up, I’m curious to see if the reference to Lake Victoria draws out any incorrect responses of “the source of the Nile River”.

  1. It took me a few seconds to parse the clue to see what they wanted, and then I tried to think of what ELSE it could be, besides the correct response. The best I could come up with was “What are winning answers from the National Geography Bee (now National Geographic Bee), which was once hosted by Alex Trebek”? 🙂

I negged with Source of the Nile when I read it. Figured there might be competition for it among African countries.

  3. Anyone know how much pre-game time contestants get with Johnny to go over name pronunciations? I ask because he mispronounced Alyssa’s hometown. It wasn’t a bad butchery—he pronounced it “wau-PAH-cuh”, but it’s actually pronounced “wau-PACK-uh”, so not a major deal—but I was surprised it wasn’t cleared up before taping.

    • You say tomayto, I say tomahto…let’s call the whole thing off. 🎼🎹🤗

      • 😀
For most things, I’d agree—but for city names, is the residents or Worcester, MA, can expect me to ridiculously pronounce it “woostah”, then I can expect others to pronounce Wisconsin town names the way the locals do. 😀

  4. Edit—“IF the residents OF”. 😀

  5. Doesn’t Kate Jovin look like the twin sister of another recent contestant?! I can’t remember the other’s name, but had to put this out there!
    Love your site (AND jeopardy)!!

  6. What subject did Randy Mathews discuss tonight during his interview with Alex?

  7. Thank you very much
