Correct response: Who is Babe Ruth?

Did you know that you can now find game-by-game stats of everyone, including Austin Rogers, who has won 10 or more games on Jeopardy!, here on the site?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

The lawsuit was surrounding the Baby Ruth candy bar; the Curtiss Candy Company had declined to negotiate an endorsement deal with the baseball legend, instead claiming that the bar was named after the first-born daughter of President Grover Cleveland. Moreover, when Ruth did endorse his own candy bar, in 1931, Curtiss sued, and won, in George H. Ruth Candy Co. v. Curtiss Candy Co.

Longtime Jeopardy! fans may remember that back in 2003, the Baby Ruth candy bar was the subject of the Final Jeopardy! that resulted in Frank Amanat’s return to the show.

Fans of “The Goonies” are more likely to get this Final Jeopardy correct.

Sloth: “Ruth! Ruth! Ruth! Baby! Ruth!”

Poor guy just wanted a nice snack.

  2. Granted, it’s a moot point given the result, but if Robert was trying to cover for Carolyn’s doubled score shouldn’t he have wagered $8401?

I understand Carolyn’s wager – especially if she wasn’t a sports expert – since she couldn’t be caught from behind, but I am wondering about Jen’s wager. On a triple stumper Jen would still finish behind Robert.

    • Might be as simple as flubbing the math and being off by two – something I’m sure our esteemed moderator can attest to from recent experience. 🙂

Was inspired by the “More Information” regarding FJ to check out the Baby Ruth article on Wikipedia–So much for it being a black and white certainty that it was “actually” inspired by the daughter of Grover Cleveland…or that Babe Ruth DIDN’T have some influence on the naming of the candy bar…Most interesting new factoids for me surrounding the “controversy” was that Ruth was then sued when he tried to market a candy bar of his own and the Baby Ruth sign at Wrigley Field (there until the 70’s supposedly) “strategically” placed approximately where Ruth’s “called shot” landed…
