Roots: The Saga of an American Family (better known as just Roots) is Alex Haley’s 1976 bestseller, telling the story of Kunta Kinte, a young man taken from The Gambia by the toubob (the local term for the Europeans) at the age of 17 and sold as a slave. From there, it details Kunta’s life and his lineage down to Alex Haley himself. It was made into an incredibly highly-rated television miniseries in the late 1970s, which are still some of the most-watched television programs in American history.

Josh’s running of the “In Sufferable” category and $3,000 on DD3 ensured he led entering Final Jeopardy, although all three players were in score contention.

All three players were correct in Final, with Josh’s standard cover bet giving him the victory. Next week will see Josh go for win #2 against Mustafa Hameed and Geraldine Rodriguez.
