Correct response: Who is Scott Joplin?

Did you know that you can now find game-by-game stats of everyone, including Austin Rogers, who has won 10 or more games on Jeopardy!, here on the site?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

Scott Joplin, known as “The King of Ragtime”, began publishing music in 1895 and was, in his prime (as it were), a virtuoso pianist.

My personal favourite Joplin composition is “Maple Leaf Rag”, the piece which brought Joplin to prominence.

The piano rolls by which his recording was preserved were made in the year prior to Joplin’s death from syphillis, and it was said among experts that Joplin’s skills had diminished significantly due to that.

Joplin experienced a resurgence in the 1970s thanks to the work of Marvin Hamlisch, who adapted it for the score of 1973’s The Sting.

A Joplin piano roll collection entered the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry in 2002.
