Big news last night for those wondering about Alex Trebek’s future as host of Jeopardy!.
On last night’s OBJECTified with Harvey Levin, Alex Trebek said that there was less than a 50-50 chance that he would return as host of Jeopardy! when his contract expires in 2020.
On the show, Alex floated the names of possible replacements: CNN legal correspondent Laura Coates and LA Kings play-by-play man Alex Faust.
At The Jeopardy! Fan, I still believe that Anderson Cooper is the favorite, and there are pockets of fans who would like to see Dan Patrick and Buzzy Cohen become the next host. So, who do you think should replace Alex Trebek?

Ken Jennings will be the replacement.
Any ex-contestant is a longshot at best.
My favorite past champion is Brad Rutter but I doubt if he would be interested even If offered the job.
Ken Jennings should be a choice on the list of replacements
Alex has never offered up Ken’s name as a possible replacement.
On the other hand, Alex has done so with Buzzy.
Andy, Congrats on the quotes in the NY Times, at least the online version.

Thank you, Art!
How about adding Pat Kiernan to the list? He’s proven that he’s more than capable of helming game shows, and his deadpan humor would work well here.
Austin or Buzzy would be fine with me.
By the way:
Here’s why I don’t think a former (civilian) contestant will get the job:

I could see Jimmy McGwire at least getting a tryout, along with some others, but the Watson trial runs make me think the line forms behind Todd Crain.
Straight from the horse’s mouth, looks like it won’t be DP. As much as I like him, had a feeling he’d decline because of his other projects.
Anderson seems like a great choice, though. I also think Andy Richter or even Chris Harrison could be good long-shot bets (though I realize Chris is probably better off doing Millionaire forever).
Anderson Cooper is the only one I would watch Jeopary for once Alex leaves.
I wish Alex would stay, but I do understand. I am also getting older.
Hey, please, please, please, please, please to infinity. . . can you please dig up the old commerial for Jeopary where Alex does the Parofy of the song, Hungry Like the Wolf ? Can you put it on YouTube, or Vevo, or even this site? That was one of my favorite commercials of all time. I rarely watch or pay attention to any commercial but occasioanlly one comes along that makes me smile. Alex, always the gentleman, always makes me smile. I think Anderson has that train, too.
I’m not sure where I’d even start looking for that commercial. I certainly haven’t seen it (or don’t remember it, either.)
I think I saw someone once recommend George Stephanopoulos as a candidate — that could be an intriguing choice.

Somebody on Reddit suggested Levar Burton.
