Happy Friday! Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Books & Authors) for Friday, April 30, 2021 (Season 37, Game 155):
In books by him, the Kingdom of Noland, ruled by an orphan named Bud, borders a country called Ix, where Queen Zixi reigns
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s contestants:
Andy Goldstein, a customer support manager originally from Teaneck, New Jersey![]() |
Sheila O’Donnell, an attorney from Euclid, Ohio![]() |
Emily Sands, a vice president of operations from Chanhassen, Minnesota (1-day total: $36,600)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Emily knew what she had to do yesterday on a late-game Daily Double and she did it. Of course, there’s a lot of volatility in late-game Daily Doubles. Her buzzer skills were up to the task yesterday, if she can take matters more into her own hands today she has a very good chance of winning Game #2.
Now, onto other matters. It is my personal belief that those who support white supremacy should have no place in today’s society. It is no coincidence that those who do support white supremacy have felt oddly empowered over the past 72 hours in their interactions with the Jeopardy! fan community, almost as if they were spurred on by some sort of dog whistle that they saw on a recent program. You can bet that I will have more to say on this in the coming days. While I’m here, though, another piece of advice: If someone tells you that something is offensive to them, you listen to them. You don’t decry about how everything has somehow become offensive and that people are looking to find offence everywhere, you take their offence into account and you don’t act that way in the future. This isn’t rocket science.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- $138,197 will be donated by Jeopardy! for Justice Defenders.
- Sheila’s minimum bet needed to be $5,600 to have any reasonable chance of winning.
- It felt as though Emily was really having fun during the game. I enjoyed watching that.
- Bill Whitaker hosts Jeopardy! next week.
- If Jeopardy! is pre-empted in your area, your best bet is to contact your local station’s news desk, who will generally have information as to what sort of “make-good” will happen with tonight’s episode. Please note that in order to protect the show’s syndication agreements, discussion on how to watch the show not on your own local station is not permitted here.

Let the white supremacists come. Maybe a light bulb or two will go on. Maybe they will learn something, rather than wallowing in ignorance and barbarism.
Andy, I’m guessing that this will not be posted because you seem to block comments from anyone who has ever posted anything you don’t like, which is of course your right.
I recently saw your comment on the Jeopardy Reddit that said you recently experienced a nervous breakdown, I assume from the fallout of this alleged white supremacist nonsense. I honestly hope that you remain in good health and that you are able to continue your normal work, despite any differences you may have with some of the followers of this website. The care that you put into this site, as well as your other contributions to the Jeopardy! community, are invaluable, and I hope you can find a way to maintain your mental health.
