Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Season 38 begins September 13 with the return of 18-day champion Matt Amodio; in the interim, Jeopardy! is running four weeks of reruns. The first two weeks will be the 10 “Alex Around the World” episodes that ran in his memory in late December; the 2021 Tournament of Champions, hosted by Buzzy Cohen, will air from August 30 through September 10. Today’s episode featured a category about the U.S. Air Force as part of a USO tour to Japan, that originally aired on September 27, 2007.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Inspired by what he observed in the Soviet Union. Dr. Fernand Lamaze began teaching his method of psychoprophylaxis in Paris. Ideally, it strives to eliminate the pain of childbirth through educating expectant mothers about the processes of labor, relaxation responses to contractions, and breathing exercises designed to interfere with the transmission of pain signals. Marjorie Karmel, after her own experience using Lamaze’s techniques, wrote Thank You, Dr. Lamaze in 1959 and founded what is now Lamaze International (originally the American Society for Psychoprophylaxis in Obstetrics) with Elisabeth Bing one year later.

As we now watch older repeats, it is a pleasure to see a healthy Alex performing his duties so effortlessly. It’s also a pleasure to see clues written with clarity and unambiguity, without the incoherent “cleverness” the production/writing staff seems to believe is now required. One forgets how Jeopardy used to be so enjoyable to watch, compared to the current version which seems to be increasingly frustrating and rudderless.
Before Mike Richards happened to the show, in fact.
Brings home to me how much I miss Alex!
I’m trying to remember a jeopardy question. It was in a category something like Disney movies. It was akin to who is the worst villain, Answer was “Who is man?” Can anyone remember the actual question and category?
Maybe re Bambi
Yes – it’s bambi – I’m trying to see if anyone knows the category and question. I’ve googled it but cannot find it

AFI’s 50 GREATEST FILM VILLAINS: Of the 50 on the list, only one never appears on screen: man, from this 1942 animated feature
Thank you!!!!
I think Richards started a slow destruction of Jeopardy as we’ve always known it ever since he took over as producer.
Why are they doing reruns. Where is Matt Amodio?
They always do reruns in the summer. Matt Amodio is scheduled to return Sept. 13.
