Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Matt Amodio is now at 24 wins. I’m really glad to see that the topic of conversation has drifted away from the hosting question over to the fact that we’re currently watching one of the all-time greats do their thing. I’d like to see Matt extend his streak today.
One thing that I noticed yesterday: People who are encountering Matt for the first time—potentially because they tuned in to watch Mayim Bialik—are still mad about how Matt chooses to respond in the form of a question. And, I would like to say: Matt is just fine. There is nothing wrong with what he’s doing, and there’s never been anything wrong with what he’s doing. The fans online who are invoking Alex’s name—or worse, Merv Griffin—are deluding themselves. Alex would not have ruled any differently.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

This specific story comes from “The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies”, one of Beatrix Potter’s stories about Peter Rabbit. According to the stories, bunnies who ate too much lettuce would fall asleep (“soporific” means “sleep-inducing”). That being said, “rabbit” + “Children’s” directs me immediately to the stories of Beatrix Potter, who wrote children’s stories about animals in the early 20th century.

Thanks for having this site – it is very interesting. Matt is wonderful and the fact that he says “What’s” before the answer does not matter – what matters is the answer. Period. He is a joy to watch. How his mind holds all these answers is a mystery. I am 77 years old and have been watching Jeopardy ever since I can remember. Watching Matt is exciting!
I’m going to have to rewatch the episode but there was actually a clue that I knew right away while ALL THREE contestants guessed incorrectly. Quite a rarity compared to an average game with Matt where I’m typically only able to blurt out five or six correct questions before he does.
