Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category 3-Named Women) for Tuesday, December 21, 2021 (Season 38, Game 72):
Not primarily known as a suffragist, in 1879 she became the 1st female resident of Concord, Mass. to register in local elections
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s contestants:
Jason Snyder, a teaching assistant from Los Angeles, California![]() |
Kaitlyn Pesterfield, a medical student from Mesa, Arizona![]() |
Amy Schneider, an engineering manager from Oakland, California (14-day total: $571,200)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: It wasn’t a runaway yesterday, but Amy Schneider kept up her Holzhauerian performance in Final Jeopardy!, picking up her 14th win (and 13th correct Final Jeopardy! in those 14 wins). Nobody has ever lost their 15th regular game of Jeopardy!; will Kaitlyn or Jason make history today? Or, will Amy climb past the $600,000 mark?
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Correct response: Who is Louisa May Alcott?
More information about Final Jeopardy: (The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2021 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
In 1879, the state of Massachusetts passed a law allowing women the right to vote in local elections on matters of children and education. Louisa May Alcott, best known for the 1868 book Little Women and its sequels, took this opportunity and became the first woman to register to vote in Concord. (Orchard House in Concord is the setting for Little Women, and where Alcott also wrote the work.) Unfortunately, not many other women in Concord were as interested in voting as Alcott was; only 20 women voted in the 1880 election, the first where women were able to vote in the town.
At this time, we are past our Christmas ordering deadline. That being said: we have many new offerings at The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store! Proceeds from the sale of the “Doctor Oz’s Fast-Acting Snake Oil Elixir” T-shirt are being donated to The Trevor Project:

Today’s interviews:
Jason was part of the math bake-off at Cornell.
Kaitlyn has moved 11 times since starting medical school four years ago.
Amy was only allowed to check out as many books from the library that she could carry by herself.
Andy’s Thoughts:
- Amy remains in #8 in overall winnings, including tournaments: Matt Jackson is still 7th at $611,612.
- At 467, Amy passes Roger Craig for #9 overall in terms of number of correct responses given on the show. Matt Jackson sits #8 with 514.
- I object to the judges allowing Kaitlyn to respond correctly with just “Ronaldo” on the Cristiano Ronaldo clue, as Ronaldo” could refer to a different star player. Michael Davies, being a big soccer fan himself, should have insisted upon a “be more specific” prompt.
- Ironically, this game taped before the less-used definition of “condominium” was discussed on JBoard on October 31. (Do mentioned yesterday that Matt hadn’t lost before this episode taped.).
- During tonight’s opening, Ken failed to mention that Ben Ingram is also 13-for-14 lifetime in Final Jeopardy.

This is one of those categories that before you even see the clue you start running through possible correct answers in your head. Louisa May Alcott was one of the possibilities I came up with – and then when I saw the clue, I’m like no, that’s not it :-O
“Not named Elizabeth Cady Stanton, this woman…”
I also thought of Louisa may Alcott as that name has been in the history books for many years. Stanton didn’t come to my mind at all. But there is another sufferagette called Susan b Anthony.
But wouldn’t “Not primarily known as a suffragist” rule out it being Susan B Anthony or Elizabeth Cady Stanton? Harriet Beecher Stowe is who came to my mind, but I was actually surprised when I then looked her up and found that the date would have fit her OK — I assumed I was even further off base, thinking her likely even older than for that period. (Even with longer to think about it I don’t think I would have thought of Louisa May Alcott just because I didn’t care for her books, so haven’t thought her name in years.)
Susan B. Anthony was born in Adams, Massachusetts, as was I, but moved to Rochester, NY ehne she was only 6 years old. There is a lloveley museum in Adams and the house that she was born in was restored by a benefatctor from Rochester, NY.\
I considered Harriet Beecher Stowe before settling on Alcott
“I object to the judges allowing Kaitlyn to respond correctly with just “Ronaldo” on the Cristiano Ronaldo clue, as Ronaldo” could refer to a different star player. Michael Davies, being a big soccer fan himself, should have insisted upon a “be more specific” prompt.”
I 100% agree with this, good catch.
Ken needs to be the permanent host. Laughed out loud 3 times during the program today. His wit and humor, as well as his flawless understanding of the game, adds significant value to the program.
100% agree. One of my top choices for sure.
Could not agree more.
Irony alert: there’s a whole category of New Orleans clues delivered by the FOX 8 news team, and FOX 8 is not airing this episode. It was pre-empted for a football pregame show. Normally when football intervenes, Jeopardy! would air around 1:30am, but not this time.
Yes, FOX 8 is choosing to air the episode tonight at 6 PM CT, just before today’s episode.
Dang… Win one FJ, lose the next one 🙁
Amy seems to have gotten the gist of the FJ wager strategy. That should help her extend her streak.
