Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Small Countries) for Wednesday, April 6, 2022 (Season 38, Game 148):
French, Italian & Swiss nationals make up about half of its population of 38,000
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s contestants:
Lana Altman, a digital programming manager from Southington, Connecticut![]() |
Vernon Ng, an associate professor of English from Tacoma, Washington![]() |
Mattea Roach, a tutor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada (1-day total: $32,001)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Canadian Mattea Roach won last night’s game, unseating another strong champion in Camron Conners. The preview at the end of yesterday’s episode showed Mattea in a deep red blazer that I’m sure that Lilly on Twitter (@OneEclecticMom) will absolutely love.

Jeopardy!’s website issues continue today, as the Clue of the Day as printed in the New York Times differs from the Clue of the Day on the website. Here, I’ve decided that the New York Times printing is more likely to be accurate. In this clue, Monaco—the wealthy principality situated on the French Riviera near the France-Italy border—is one of the world’s smallest and least populous countries. The country is best known for the Casino de Monte-Carlo—Monegasque citizens are forbidden from entering the gaming rooms—as well as playing host to a yearly Formula 1 race around the streets of the principality.

Game Recap:
Jeopardy! Round categories: U.S. Bodies of Water; It’s All Relative; In Describable; Tombstone; The Magnificent Seven; Westerns
This round belonged entirely to Mattea. She gave 11 correct responses in the first 15 clues and another 10 after the break. Vernon struggled, giving four incorrect responses, and Lana only got in first four times (two of her four correct being rebounds of Vernon’s incorrect responses.) Even a conservative Daily Double bet didn’t keep Mattea from racking up $12,800 after Single Jeopardy.
Double Jeopardy! Round categories: Physiology; Landmark Legislation; Parts of the Whole; In Your Preface; Women in Music; “On” the Double
Mattea’s dominance continued — she picked up both Daily Doubles in Double Jeopardy (picking up another $6,000) in amongst 14 correct in the round (and 35 total in Single and Double Jeopardy). Vernon did manage to get himself out of the hole and tied with Lana for 2nd going into Final. At the end of the round, Mattea had $28,800, to Vernon’s $2,200 and Lana’s $2,200.
Mattea’s amazing game was capped in Final by her being the only player to get Final correct—she’s now a 2-day champion at over $70,000.

Final Jeopardy! betting suggestions:
(Scores: Mattea $28,800 Lana $2,200 Vernon $2,200)
Mattea: You’ve got a victory if you bet anywhere between $0 and $24,399.
Vernon: Because Lana holds the tiebreaker for second (by virtue of her having the better score after the first round), you should bet $0 in this Prisoner’s Dilemma and hope she gets the clue incorrect.
Lana: You’ve got the tiebreaker for second if you finish tied with Vernon. Bet everything.

No switcheroo today, I hope! I got off the schneid with this one! 😀
Current FJ streak: 1W
As did I! I was on a bad streak.
Andy, Lilly is one of my favorites on Twitter. Her comments are always positive.
Where does one go on Twitter to see the Twitter comments such as those from Lilly? I’m not a big social media person so this might seem like a dumb question to some people. I know how to get to the Twitter website but where do I go from there to see Lilly’s and other people’s comments regarding Jeopardy! Thank you in advance for any help you can give. BTW, I thought today’s FJ was fairly obvious. 🙂
I linked to her account when talking about her. (It’s in blue above.)
I had the same response as Mattea, including the 2nd guess of Liechtenstein, then settling on Monaco. I wonder whether either of the other two contestants just couldn’t think of Monaco or actually thought Malta or Liechtenstein was more likely, maybe thinking Monaco was “too obvious”.
