Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Tonight on Celebrity Jeopardy, we have a pair of actors—Ike Barinholtz and Constance Wu—as well as retired NBAer Jalen Rose; Rose was a member of the University of Michigan’s “Fab Five” of the 1990s, who then had a 13-season NBA career and then became an ESPN analyst.
I would also like to say that a number of viewers appear to have had significantly unrealistic expectations regarding this tournament. Celebrity Jeopardy! episodes have always been as much about the celebrities vamping as it’s been about the actual gameplay. This is one reason why I thought it was such a genius move to give us three rounds over the course of one hour. It gives everyone at home a chance to see all of the clues played, and allows the celebrities to “stretch their legs”. Obviously, if you’re expecting gameplay as you’d see on the civilian version, you’re going to be disappointed. But if you remember that it’s not entirely going to be about the trivia, you can sit down and find yourself entertained over the hour-long episode!
Back to the tournament, though, Simu Liu and Iliza Shlesinger are waiting in next week’s first semifinal. Who of these three celebrities will also make it into the semifinals?
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they can, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Jalen has a podcast that just released its 100th episode.
Ike recently got the chance to work with “up-and-coming young comedian” Mel Brooks.
Constance has a book and a film coming out.
Today’s interviews, part 2:
Jalen is a big fan of the Jeopardy! theme song and the Cheers! theme song.
Ike is a huge fan of Ken Jennings (the player) and played Alex Trebek on MAD TV.
Constance enjoyed blurting the answer out and playing at home.
Andy’s Thoughts:
- Ike Barinholtz’s Coryat score through Double Jeopardy!, if doubled, would have been $32,600.
- An Ike Barinholtz–Andy Richter matchup would have been epic.
- While Constance was bleeped tonight on Celebrity Jeopardy, this is a reminder that these are not the first bleeps in the history of the show. Penn Jillette was bleeped, as well as Vincent Valenzuela.
- Today’s box score: October 9, 2022 Celebrity Jeopardy! box score.
Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:
(Scores: Ike $37,200 Constance $23,000 Jalen $1,000)

Ike: Standard cover bet over Constance is $8,801. (Actual bet: $8,801)
Jalen: Bet whatever you like. (Actual bet: $1,000)

I’m 0-2 on the Celebrity FJs so far, a trend I hope to reverse tonight!
Thank goodness for the easy ones. That gets me off the schneid for Celebrity FJ and a positive start to the week.
What is “the greatest match I’ve ever seen in almost a decade of watching the show?”
Was definitely glad to see Constance come alive at the end and be able to use those two daily doubles to make it competitive going into final. (I’m pretty sure they gave her more than the usual time to answer the avatar one, but I have no issues with them doing that for Celebrity J).
and “What is t!t?” is now my favorite Jeopardy response.
Not serious obviously but… Constance Wu for Second Chance Tournament? More seriously… Andy Richter for Second Chance Tournament?
If not for Jalen Rose( I saw him play in the Final Four in NOLA), I would be 0-6 on knowing any of these “celebrities”. I guess, I’m not in the target audience for this Jeopardy off-shoot!!
Make that 0-9
No surprise to see Ike’s strong gameplay, as he’s been a regular player in LearnedLeague for the last six years running. Keeping your trivia skills sharp with online sites such as LL has already paid off for him – I expect his winning ways will continue.
