We began with 27; after nine quarterfinals, we are now at nine semi-finalists in the 2023 High School Reunion tournament. One of these nine players will win $100,000 and a Tournament of Champions berth. I’m very much looking forward to the next five games!

Andy’s Thoughts: We saw a tiebreaker clue the last time Jackson met Avi in a semifinal. Will we see another tiebreaker clue today? Rematches like this are historically very rare on the show, which makes this matchup all the more intriguing. I’m expecting to see a very tightly contested match with this semi. |
Monday, March 6:
![]() Justin Bolsen First-year student at Brown University Canton, Georgia 61 correct, 8 incorrect 3/4 on rebound attempts (on 13 rebound opportunities) 33.92% in first on buzzer (58/171) 4/5 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $9,500) 2/2 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $14,800 Predictions: |
![]() Stephanie Pierson Junior at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Macon, Georgia 30 correct, 6 incorrect 3/6 on rebound attempts (on 8 rebound opportunities) 22.81% in first on buzzer (26/114) 1/2 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $3,200) 2/2 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $9,500 Predictions: |
![]() Claire Sattler Senior at Yale University Bonita Springs, Florida 99 correct, 15 incorrect 8/9 on rebound attempts (on 21 rebound opportunities) 33.45% in first on buzzer (94/281) 5/6 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $8,000) 4/5 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $14,720 Predictions: |
Andy’s Thoughts: I could make a compelling case for all three players to win today. Justin had a very strong quarterfinal. Stephanie has definitely grasped the strategy needed to win—and she demonstrated that with her win in the quarterfinals. Claire always seems to find a way to win when it matters. In his first appearance, Justin had a weak semifinal—if he plays like he does in the quarterfinals, I think he has the best chance of winning. If he doesn’t, though—anything can happen. |
Tuesday, March 7:
![]() Caleb Richmond Sophomore at Georgetown University Bedford, New Hampshire 67 correct, 9 incorrect 2/3 on rebound attempts (on 7 rebound opportunities) 37.43% in first on buzzer (64/171) 3/6 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $1,018) 2/3 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $18,133 Predictions: |
![]() Maya Wright Senior at Emory University Peachtree City, Georgia 110 correct, 10 incorrect 7/8 on rebound attempts (on 16 rebound opportunities) 36.65% in first on buzzer (103/281) 4/4 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $5,800) 3/5 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $15,240 Predictions: |
![]() Tim Cho Senior at Columbia University Champaign, Illinois 70 correct, 9 incorrect 2/2 on rebound attempts (on 6 rebound opportunities) 39.77% in first on buzzer (68/171) 4/6 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $4,400) 3/3 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $16,933 Predictions: |
Andy’s Thoughts: For better or worse, Caleb is probably an even more Jekyll-and-Hyde player than Justin is. Last time around, Caleb also torched the quarterfinal but flamed out in the semis. If that happens again, this is anyone’s game. If he plays as he does in the quarterfinals, though—watch out. |

Prediction time!
Semifinal #1: Jackson – In their initial semifinal, Jackson outperformed Avi in terms of Coryat and buzzer timing, and Avi has pretty much saved himself with big bets in both his initial semifinal and his quarterfinal this time around. But since Jackson has done a much better job at hunting for Daily Doubles, I don’t think Avi will be able to pull out much of an advantage. And like I said in the Discord server, finding Daily Doubles solely so you can take them off the board is still a much better strategy than letting an opponent get to them.
Semifinal #2: Justin – I initially hesitated, because Justin is a much more volatile player than either Stephanie or Claire. But then I realized that Justin would have won his quarterfinal regardless of who found the Daily Double, since he had the best stats in his quarterfinal. And the fact that he’s at all willing to bet huge when absolutely necessary, which I don’t believe Claire was, also helps his chances in my mind.
Semifinal #3: Caleb – Even if Tim knows more of the material, you can’t exactly do much against a player who’s hunting for Daily Doubles, hitting them, and capitalizing on them. The fact that Caleb still had a dominating runaway even after dropping over $10,000 on a Daily Double makes him the favorite in my mind. Plus, if he gets a Daily Double and bets a number ending in 18, that could make the math much more difficult for Tim and Maya (especially if Maya pulls another Clavin). I know relying on past performance is dangerous, but that’s what I’m going with.
Again, just my predictions – looking forward to watching these games!
