The Trevi Fountain is a very famous fountain located in Rome, Italy, that has been featured in numerous films—1954’s Three Coins in the Fountain being the most famous. Since 2001, Caritas Rome has been the beneficiary of coins tossed in the fountain. Interestingly, in late 2018/early 2019, there was a minor hullaballoo after the City of Rome threatened to use the coins thrown in the fountain to pay for city maintenance projects. However, the city retracted that position after public outcry.

rowan was cruising and then they found the Daily Double—at which point they proceeded to double up for $10,600! From that point, it was only a matter of whether our trailers would find the third one—and then rowan put the game away by finding it near the round’s two-thirds mark.

Nikkee: Standard cover bet over Do is $6,401. (Actual bet: $5,401)

Do: I would bet between $801 (in case Nikkee bets small) and $5,999 (staying above Nikkee in case you both are incorrect and she bets to cover).(Actual bet: $401)

Rowan: You’ve got a runaway. Bet $0. (Actual bet: $10,000)

5 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – Wednesday, August 9, 2023"

  1. I will say, rowan quickly became one of my favorite contestants ever throughout this tournament’s original airing. They’re smart as hell, flamboyant (but not overly so to the point of obnoxiousness), fazed by pretty much nothing, and minus those two errors in clue selection, know how to replicate the strategies of the person who initially beat them to the fullest effect. It’s a shame the ToC didn’t work out nearly as well for them as this competition, but these next couple days are going to be very enjoyable for me as a Jeopardy! watcher!

  2. I’m not sure I approve of Michael Davies’ plans for Season 40. How is this different from crossing a picket line? The best way to show support for the writers is to boycott any form of new production.

    • The writers have not asked for a viewer boycott of shows, as their fear is that viewer boycotts will lead to show cancellations and, thus, no work for them to return to.

      • That had been my personal thoughts on the situation, but I didn’t know it was the strikers’ opinion, too. The last writers’ strike lasted 100 days (as this one has so far) and several TV series were cancelled because of it, at least one that was one of my favorites at the time.

  3. I am in full support of Season 40.
