Yungsheng, the alternate from the 30th Tournament of Champions, is the top seed, and while he’s had to come from behind to get to this point, his clue selection has generally been strong, even though he’s been unlucky to not find a Daily Double yet in this event. |

Tyler Vandenberg (13) Stuttgart, Germany  99 correct, 12 incorrect 9/10 on rebound attempts (on 23 rebound opportunities) 30.88% in first on buzzer (88/285) 6/8 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $13,200) 3/5 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $15,800 Tyler’s made a name for himself by going all in twice in Final Jeopardy in this event. If a more difficult Final Jeopardy comes at the players today or Monday, this might prove to be his undoing. |

Gary Hollis (18) Roanoke, Virginia  88 correct, 18 incorrect 8/9 on rebound attempts (on 21 rebound opportunities) 37.72% in first on buzzer (86/228) 6/7 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $11,400) 2/4 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $17,600 As I said in the semifinal preview, Gary is the latest in a long line of strong alumni from the 2021 Professors Tournament. If there’s one weakness to Gary’s game, though, it’s that he’s not aggressive enough on the Daily Doubles, and he may have to be in order to win this final. |
Overall Thoughts: I do think that Yungsheng has the fewest flaws in his game overall, though it would probably help him if he took a beat before responding! (He did have a few instances in the semis where he realized the correct response after he said the incorrect one.)
