Beginning on Tuesday, we’ll be seeing Week #2 of Winter 2024’s Second Chance; another 9 players return for a chance to advance to Winter 2024’s Champions Wildcard in a few weeks!
Tuesday, December 26, 2023:
Christopher Pennant Chicago, Illinois ![]() 25 correct, 7 incorrect 1/1 on rebound attempts (on 2 rebound opportunities) 52.63% in first on buzzer (30/57) 0/0 on Daily Doubles 0/1 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $10,800 Christopher’s first game: September 21, 2022 Christopher finished in third place against Martha Bath and Emmett Stanton, despite 25 correct responses in his game. |
|
Emily Kawaler New York, New York ![]() 19 correct, 3 incorrect 1/1 on rebound attempts (on 4 rebound opportunities) 33.33% in first on buzzer (19/57) 1/1 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $3,000) 0/1 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $12,000 Emily’s first game: December 29, 2022 In Ray Lalonde’s 11th game, Emily led going into Final Jeopardy, but unfortunately did not lead coming out of it. |
|
Myles Karp Weston, Florida ![]() 19 correct, 4 incorrect 1/1 on rebound attempts (on 4 rebound opportunities) 35.09% in first on buzzer (20/57) 1/1 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $3,800) 0/1 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $15,400 Myles’s first game: February 10, 2023 In his game in February, Myles led going into Final Jeopardy with $17,600, but a difficult Final Jeopardy led to Mira Hayward winning her second game. |
Overall Thoughts: If Christopher can dial back the incorrect responses, I think he might have the best chance of victory. If not, this could be absolutely anybody’s game.

Wednesday, December 27, 2023:
Ben Hebert Chicago, Illinois ![]() 21 correct, 4 incorrect 1/1 on rebound attempts (on 2 rebound opportunities) 40.35% in first on buzzer (23/57) 0/0 on Daily Doubles 0/1 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $12,400 Ben’s first game: December 5, 2022 Ben put up 21 correct against Cris Pannullo in Cris’s 21st victory. |
|
Greg Czaja San Diego, California ![]() 16 correct, 4 incorrect 0/0 on rebound attempts (on 2 rebound opportunities) 31.58% in first on buzzer (18/57) 0/1 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: -$3,200) 1/1 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $11,200 Greg’s first game: April 14, 2023 I’m sure Greg was thrilled to be paired against a player named Ben again. Greg put up 16 correct and a five-digit Coryat against Ben Chan in Ben’s third game. |
|
Tammy Groner Hamilton, New Jersey ![]() 24 correct, 1 incorrect 2/2 on rebound attempts (on 3 rebound opportunities) 36.84% in first on buzzer (21/57) 1/1 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $3,400) 0/1 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $19,200 Tammy’s first game: December 7, 2022 Tammy put up over $22,000 going into Final Jeopardy against Ron Cheung and Andy Tirrell. Unfortunately, a difficult Final Jeopardy gave Ron the victory. |
Overall Thoughts: Tammy had the best raw statistics in her initial game, but certainly, Greg’s stats were clouded by the fact that he had to play against Ben Chan. “Strong opposition” is often a sign for success in Second Chance, which makes me think that Greg might have the best chance of victory.

Thursday, December 28, 2023:
Raquel Matta San Pablo, California ![]() 16 correct, 1 incorrect 1/1 on rebound attempts (on 4 rebound opportunities) 22.81% in first on buzzer (13/57) 1/2 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $1,600) 1/1 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $14,800 Raquel’s first game: May 9, 2023 Raquel would have defeated Hannah Wilson in Hannah’s fifth game, had Raquel only made a better Final Jeopardy bet! Hopefully, Raquel will have studied Final Jeopardy strategy in the interim. |
|
Mitch Cutter Boise, Idaho ![]() 20 correct, 3 incorrect 0/0 on rebound attempts (on 0 rebound opportunities) 36.84% in first on buzzer (21/57) 1/1 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $3,600) 1/1 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $14,800 Mitch’s first game: December 22, 2022 Mitch had a very spirited battle against Ray Lalonde in Ray’s sixth game back in December 2022. |
|
Xanni Brown Cincinnati, Ohio ![]() 20 correct, 1 incorrect 1/1 on rebound attempts (on 2 rebound opportunities) 31.58% in first on buzzer (18/57) 1/1 on Daily Doubles (Net Earned: $2,200) 0/1 in Final Jeopardy Average Coryat: $18,200 Xanni’s first game: November 28, 2022 Xanni, who played in Cris Pannullo’s 16th game, had the highest-ever second place score of a player on the receiving end of a runaway game. (Of course that was going to be a Second Chance invitation-worthy performance, unlike what some commenters last November tried to claim.) |
Overall Thoughts: I think Raquel has the most to prove, having come closest to victory the first time out, but I think Xanni is a very strong player. Absolutely anyone could end up winning this one.
