Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category NFL Geography) for Tuesday, May 20, 2025 (Season 41, Game 182):
It’s the state with the lowest population density that’s home to an NFL team
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Wendy Poush, a floor manager from Des Moines, Iowa![]() |
Brendan Liaw, a recent graduate & stay-at-home son from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada![]() |
Mitch Loflin, a set decoration coordinator from Long Beach, California (2-day total: $35,700)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Mitch Loflin had a very strong game yesterday, becoming a 2-day champion in runaway fashion. Today, he faces off against Iowa’s Wendy Poush and Vancouver’s Brendan Liaw. I feel as though Brendan is going to have a good time on the show—he very enthusiastically posted to Reddit encouraging people to watch, and for the last 20-plus years, the community has noticed that contestants tend to have done better than average when they post to discussion groups encouraging people to watch. (Spoiler alert: the people on the subreddit/JBoard/etc. are going to be watching anyway, they don’t need encouragement!)
In other Jeopardy! news, Jeopardy! Masters moves to two nights a week for the next three weeks, with games airing on ABC on Tuesday and Wednesday at 9 PM Eastern (8 Central) and the games airing in Canada on CTV2 at 10 PM tonight.

Today’s Final Jeopardy is a good reminder that trivia fans always need to keep an eye on how sports team relocations can often change the correct responses to trivia questions. In January 2020, the Oakland Raiders moved to Las Vegas, with Nevada supplanting the previous correct response, Colorado (home to the Denver Broncos), as the U.S. state with the lowest population density that’s home to an NFL team.
I suspect that this is going to be a Final Jeopardy playing on the more difficult side—I would venture that contestants or home viewers probably don’t have the list of states ordered by population density in their memory.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Wendy’s bet on the final Daily Double was absolutely correct for someone who appeared to dislike the category as much as she did. While it didn’t really work out for her in this case, I think it was an excellent bet choice.
- I thought this was one of the best-played regular play games of the season in general and all three players should be proud of themselves.
- Today’s box score will be linked to when posted by the show.
Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:
(Scores: Brendan $19,200 Mitch $12,400 Wendy $11,900)
Mitch: You have to be correct to win, and you should probably cover Wendy, because she also has to be correct to win and could go all in. Bet $11,401. (Actual bet: $6,180)
Brendan: Standard cover bet over Mitch is $5,601. (Actual bet: $5,601)
Wendy: You have to be correct to win. Bet at least $1,700; I’d probably limit my bet to $10,900 here in case Mitch chooses to cover me. (Actual bet: $8,100)

Andy – thanks for giving the previous correct answer of Colorado. After seeing the correct answer of Nevada, my first thought was, ‘well, what did it used to be?’
I not only had the current NFL state with the lowest density, I still would’ve been wrong BEFORE the Raiders moved to Las Vegas.
I thought the correct response was Arizona.
As soon as I realized I was looking for a state with a major city and a whole lot of nothing, I went to Colorado. Then my mind jumped to Nevada.
FUN FACT: Nevada is the least dense state with any major pro sports team, behind Kansas (Sporting KC plays across the state line), Utah (the Jazz/RSL/Mammoth), and Oregon (the TrailBlazers and Timbers).
The most dense is also interesting, although it still throws people off that the Jets and Giants play their home games in New Jersey.
I guessed Louisiana (New Orleans Saints). Nevada didn’t even cross my mind.
Upon reading the clue, my mind went immediately to the Southwest. In the next 10 seconds, I scanned across Colorado, Arizona and settled on Nevada when I remembered the fairly recent move of the Raiders. Besides Colorado, I think Arizona wouldn’t have been a bad guess either.
I immediately went to Colorado, forgetting that the Raiders recently moved to Vegas.
Honestly, if told that Colorado was incorrect and given a second chance, I would have said Arizona. So I would have been wrong twice.
My mind went immediately to the mid-north, like North or South Dakota, Montana or Wyoming [maybe why Brendan went with Minnesota?], but it didn’t feel like I’d ever heard of an NFL team in any of those states. I guessed Colorado.
I perked up when I saw NFL geography. I got this right away for once. I figured it had to be this or Arizona, but I didn’t even consider Colorado.
I perked up as well, only to be disappointed when my Colorado guess went up in flames!!!
Brendad? 😉
Jeopardy playing a cruel joke on me with what should have been a category made to suit me in FJ. Grr……I said Colorado. Darn Raiders!
Go Pack Go anyway! 🙂
We’ll see tomorrow in Brendan can get win #2!
