Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Historic Homes) for Thursday, October 30, 2025 (Season 42, Game 39):
At a speech here in 1936, FDR called its onetime occupant a “farmer, lawyer, mechanic, scientist, architect”, etc.
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Christopher Tillman, a pastor from Plover, Wisconsin
|
Elana Beame, a Jewish engagement educator originally from Boca Raton, Florida
|
Aaron Levine, a sports anchor from Seattle, Washington (3-day total: $48,999)
|
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Seattle sportscaster Aaron Levine is now a 3-day Jeopardy! champion; he goes for a very important fourth victory today against Elana Beame, representing Boca Raton, Florida, and Christopher Tillman, representing Plover, Wisconsin.
Here’s what we do know about the Tournament of Champions qualifying situation: after today’s game, there will be 4 spots left to be determined (3 from the standings, and the last spot from Champions Wildcard). If Aaron wins today, the 17th spot in the Tournament of Champions will go to him. If he does not win, Brendan Liaw will have mathematically clinched his spot in the event, and Aaron will stay in a good-but-not-guaranteed spot to see a Tournament invite.

On the Fourth of July, 1936, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt delivered an address at Thomas Jefferson’s homestead of Monticello in Virginia. As FDR put it, Jefferson was “Farmer, lawyer, mechanic, scientist, architect, philosopher, statesman, he encompassed the full scope of the knowledge of his time; and his life was one of the richest diversity.” The full text of the speech can still be found at The American Presidency Project.
Even if you don’t know that FDR spoke at Monticello in 1936, as long as a player (or home viewer) realizes that of the great early American polymath-statesmen, Jefferson had the more well-known house, this should be a gettable Final Jeopardy clue.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- As of right now, Aaron is still about 75% to qualify for the Tournament of Champions. Brendan Liaw has now mathematically clinched a spot.
- Considering the categories for J!6 today said “Great Jeans” and the actual episode had just “Jeans”, I suspect the show decided to change the category name between taping and airing (or, at the very least, very last-minute before taping.) For the record, I think it was an extremely good idea to do so. (Though, to be quite fair, it probably shouldn’t have gotten out of the writers’ room in the first place.)
- Today’s J!6 clues can be found at the monthly archive.
Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:
(Scores: Aaron $13,100 Christopher $8,000 Elana $2,200)
Aaron: Standard cover bet is $2,901. (Actual bet: $3,000)
Elana: You need a massive overbet from Aaron to have a chance. Bet whatever you like. (Actual bet: $200)
Christopher: You have to be correct to win. Bet at least $2,200; betting no more than $3,599 keeps Elana locked out for second. (But, going all in would maximize potential winnings if correct.) (Actual bet: $8,000)

Easy get for me.
First thought Mount Vernon, but realizing Washington didn’t really fit the clue, I went with Monticello. First time I can remember getting five final jeopardy’s correct in a row.
A similar comment in spirit from JFK at a dinner honoring Nobel winners
“I want to tell you how welcome you are to the White House. I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered together at the White House, with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone.”
