Our weekend encore presentations this week feature Laura Faddah going for win #5 against Mathieu Farhoud-Dionne and Amber Gamrat.
I’ve been doing some contemplation about the future of The Jeopardy! Fan over the past few weeks, and with the increased focus and pivot to AI that Google is going to be doing in the short term, it feel as if a business strategy focused on solely keeping a website updated with Jeopardy! recaps is foolhardy at this point. Thus, I am very likely going to be increasing both the scope of my content as well as the number of platforms I produce content on. I don’t entirely know what that will look like at this point, but changes are certainly coming.

As I said back in 2024 when this episode originally aired: “Categories and game material are selected randomly and independently of contestants. Furthermore, to change material specifically because it might be an advantage to a certain contestant would also generally be seen as verboten. So, yes, that means that sometimes a clue about the founding of a contestant’s hometown will come up in Final Jeopardy; it’s the luck of the draw, and there is nothing untoward about it.”
Named after the ancient Egyptian capital city on the Nile, Memphis, Tennessee was founded in 1819 by by John Overton, James Winchester, and future President Andrew Jackson shortly after the purchase of the land from the Chickasaw peoples.

Game Recap:
Mathieu Farhoud-Dionne went 1-for-4 on the major clues today, getting two of the Daily Doubles incorrect, but that didn’t keep him from still holding a $200 lead entering Final Jeopardy against a 4-day champion—a pretty impressive accomplishment in and of itself, considering that he was at -$2,200 entering Final Jeopardy. It also looked like Laura’s run might be coming to an end as she gave an incorrect response on the last clue before the time’s up signal.
It seemed like a foregone conclusion that Laura would get Final Jeopardy correct today, but this game didn’t hinge upon that. Had Mathieu also been correct, Laura’s streak would have ended. Unfortunately for Mathieu, an incorrect response gave Laura win #5.
Next week will feature Laura going for win #6 against Carole Portas Keane and Brad Grusnick.
Scores going into Final:
Mathieu $13,400
Laura $13,200
Amber $2,200
Tonight’s results:
Amber $2,200 – $0 = $2,200 (What is Alexandria?)
Laura $13,200 + $4,800 = $18,000 (What is Memphis?) (5-day total: $58,400)
Mathieu $13,400 – $13,001 = $399 (What is Carthage? YaYa)

Game Stats:
Laura $13,200 Coryat, 18 correct, 4 incorrect, 32.73% in first on buzzer (18/55), 4/4 on rebound attempts (on 4 rebound opportunities)
Amber $2,200 Coryat, 6 correct, 1 incorrect, 10.91% in first on buzzer (6/55), 1/1 on rebound attempts (on 7 rebound opportunities)
Mathieu $14,600 Coryat, 16 correct, 5 incorrect, 32.73% in first on buzzer (18/55), 0/0 on rebound attempts (on 5 rebound opportunities)
Combined Coryat Score: $30,000
