Andy here with another recap of Jeopardy!
Twyla Dignan and Dean Flagg are the two challengers for Sara Garnett, who dethroned 5-timer Joshua Brakhage yesterday! Twyla was introduced as a “domestic goddess”.

YOU KNOW, THE MOVIE WHERE…
ON WHAT CONTINENT?
Dean got off to the best start, doing well in both SHAKESPEARE and MOVIES! At the end of 15 clues, he had the lead, and the scores were as follows:
Dean’s interview, where he spoke of MMA, that being “medieval martial arts”, elicited a “I didn’t understand a word he said” from Alex! Ouch! Dean seemed to take it well, though. He also got to play the first Daily Double. The scores were:
He bet $2,000. His clue: Chartered in 1859, the RR we know by the names of these 3 places didn’t get to the New Mexico capital until 1880. I got it — probably because of the song — but Dean did not, and he fell to $4,600.
Jeopardy!’s favorite American hagiographer came up at the bottom of “WEE” (Mason was the first name of this parson and Washington biographer); will it prove to be any consolation that it was a Triple Stumper here too? I know a few friends who claim this man has a similar middle name to Bucky Dent amongst Red Sox fans!
At the end of 30 clues, the scores were:

THE SPAIN! THE SPAIN!
YOU’VE GOT A DEAL
We call “Party Hopping” “crossing the floor” up in Canada (as there’s floor space separating the governing and opposition benches in our legislatures)! After getting the $1,600 clue in PARTY HOPPING, Sara got to play the Daily Double immediately beneath it! The scores sat at:
She bet $2,000. Her clue: This late Pennsylvanian, once a Democrat, was elected to the Senate for the GOP, then switched back in 2009. Her immediate correct response put her to $7,600.
It seemed as if our contestants were confused by the “Rhyming Dictionary” – Dean had puzzled looks on his face, even as he was getting the clues right! Sara did well for herself on CLASSICAL MUSIC as well, keeping the lead!
The final Daily Double didn’t come out until the game’s final clue! My favourite! Dean got to play it, with scores sitting at:
The absolute best wager here for Dean is $8,000 exactly. If he’s right, he looks good and has a commanding lead, but if he’s wrong, both him and Twyla go to exactly half of Sara’s score! The best wagers bring benefit on both right and wrong answers!
He chose $2,500. Nope. His clue: After uniting their hearts, Ferdinand & Isabella united these 2 Spanish kingdoms in 1479. Dean got one, but not the second, and he fell to $13,900.
Scores going into Final Jeopardy!:
FJ! category: THE UNIVERSE
FJ! clue: 2006 it was moved to a new list that includes Ceres & Eris
Twyla 8400 + 0 = 8400
Dean 13900 + 12500 = 26400
Sara 16800 + 11001 = 27801
I love the Trivia Gods, throwing out a softball Final like this after Dean’s botched bet on the final Daily Double.
Sara’s a 2-day champion with winnings of $53,402! She’ll be back again tomorrow! I’ll be back next week!
