Celebrity Feud counts, I guess…

Andy here!
Jason Idalski and Erin Hoesly are the challengers for Mary Murrell! I’ve been looking forward to this game for awhile; Jason Idalski is a Scrabble player! Meanwhile, I was flipping back and forth between this game and the Detroit Tigers game during commercial breaks in Jeopardy! Max Scherzer had the decency to get out of his 8th inning jam during a commercial for Jeopardy!

J! round categories:
THE NATIONAL INVENTORS HALL OF FAME
A FEW CHOICE WORDS
FOOD & DRINK
“F”ILM TERMINOLOGY
EVACUATE!
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST THIS OLD…

YOU MUST BE AT LEAST THIS OLD… was a slow start for all 3 of our contestants. FOOD & DRINK $600 (Headquartered in Atlanta, this chain of over 430 restaurants says 66% of its customers are male) put a smile on Jason’s face, which prompted jibing from Alex!

At the end of 15, the scores were:
Mary $2,400
Erin $2,000
Jason $1,800

Coming out of the break, INVENTOR’S HALL OF FAME $1000 was a Triple Stumper: “In 1865, (his) company built the first factory for producing nitroglycerin”. Apparently Jason knew it but chose to stay clam!

Meanwhile, Erin got EVACATE $200, dropped to $1000, and found the Daily Double! Scores were:

Erin $3,800
Jason $3,600
Mary $2,000

Erin bet $1,600. Her clue: In 1906 the Southern Pacific Railroad evacuated more than half of this city’s 400,000 people. Her correct response put her at $5,400!

At the end of 30, the scores were:
Erin $6,200
Jason $4,600
Mary $1,600

DJ! round categories:
BEFORE THE EURO
BEGINS & ENDS IN “G”
I HOSTED FAMILY FEUD…
APOCALYTERATURE
TARGET IN SIGHT
BRAHMS AWAY!

The $800 clue in “Feud” shocked me: “& tell you the weather every morning on the “Today” show”. I didn’t realize “Celebrity Family Feud” counted!

Meanwhile, BRAHMS AWAY! $1200 had the Daily Double. It went to Jason after Erin said that Brahms’ first name was Johann, not Johannes, and the scores were:

Erin $6,200
Jason $5,800
Mary $2,000

Jason decided he knew very little about Brahms — and bet $5 (“because (he) couldn’t bet $4”). His clue: A youthful stint accompanying violinist Eduard Remenyi led to an interest in this national music & its dances. Jason said “polka” and fell to $5,795.

From that point forward the game was pretty much all Jason. He ended up getting 9 of the final 15 clues! The final Daily Double was also his, under BEGINS & ENDS WITH G $1600. Scores were:

Jason $13,395
Mary $6,400
Erin $4,600

Jason bet $5,005. His clue: The farm where Pres. Eisenhower lived after his retirement lies outside this Pennsylvania town. After some thought, Jason got it, and his score went up to $18,400.

By the time the end-of-round signal went with 4 clues to play, the scores were:

Jason $20,800
Mary $8,000
Erin $4,600

FJ! category: PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION HISTORY

FJ! clue: In 1948 he won South Carolina with 72% of the vote & 3 other states but finished a distant third overall

Erin 4600 – 4000 = 600
Mary 8000 + 1250 = 9250
Jason 20800 + 4799 = 25599

So Jason’s going to be back to defend; Jeanie will have the recap!
