Today’s contestants:

Jerry was quite dominant in his first two appearances. Will he make our ToC list?

J! round categories:
FLYERS & FLYING
CALIFORNIA FOOD FESTIVALS
HIGH-SCORING SCRABBLE WORDS
THE 1970s
LOCO FOR LOGOS
“HAPPY” HOUR

Jerry went straight for SCRABBLE. Good guy. Armen got the clue and moved into 1970s. Not a good guy. The first break came after just 14 clues, and a neg kept Jerry’s score down! Scores at the first break:

Jerry $2,800 (7 correct, 1 incorrect)
Armen $1,400 (3 correct)
Alexis $1,000 (2 correct)

Alexis bets against her dad nightly on Jeopardy!; two bucks a round, double or nothing on Final! Armen is training for the Marine Corps marathon in Washington; Alex joked that they run through gunfire. Jerry’s written a science fiction novel about a heroine who gains the power to change the past. For the good, he claims!

Coming out of the break, Armen had the best luck that anyone has had in three games on the buzzer against Jerry! However, it was Jerry who saw the Daily Double (FOOD FESTIVALS $800). Scores:

Jerry $5,600
Armen $3,400
Alexis $1,800

Jerry bet $1,400. The clue: An Oxnard festival for this condiment advertises that it celebrates “The food, the music, the dance” I was hoping for “Meringue”. (Not really. I gave the correct response. So did Jerry. His score went to $7,000.)

Scores after the J! round:
Jerry $8,000 (13 right, 1 wrong)
Armen $3,400 (8 right, 1 wrong)
Alexis $1,800 (5 right)

DJ! round categories:
GENEALOGY
GREEK ISLANDS
BIOGRAPHY SUBJECTS
MOVIE COMEDIES
“CO” DEPENDENT
GRIMM, GRIM

Armen kept Jerry from running MOVIE COMEDIES; Alexis then got $400 in BIOGRAPHY SUBJECTS. $800 had the Daily Double! Scores:
Jerry $12,000
Armen $5,400
Alexis $2,200

Alexis made it a True Daily Double (I’m impressed.) Her clue: An explorer: “The Man Who Presumed”. Alexis went for Christopher Columbus. Her score went to $0.

The final Daily Double stayed hidden for quite awhile, giving Jerry a chance to build his score further! In fact, the last clue played was GENEALOGY $2000 and was the Daily Double!

Scores:
Jerry $19,600
Armen $10,600
Alexis $2,400

Jerry bet $2,000. That works! His clue: With over 10 billion genealogical records, this website says it’s the “largest online family history resource” I’ve seen those commercials, and it looks like Jerry has too! He cemented the lock game with his correct answer, also sending some fans on Twitter into a tizzy.

That brings us to today’s Tweets of the Day:

Scores going into Final:
Jerry $21,600 (14 right, 3 wrong)
Armen $10,600 (4 right)
Alexis $2,400 (6 right, 2 wrong)

FJ! category: WORD ORIGINS

FJ! clue: When evidence was lacking, juries of yore would reply with this Latin word meaning “we do not know”; now it means a dunce

Alexis 2400 – 2000 = 4000
Armen 10600 – 5000 = 5600
Jerry 21600 + 302 = 21902
