…I finished blogging before the 6 o’clock basketball game! Also, notice the time on Laura’s picture below: I was worried that at its rate the recording would end before I knew how the game ended. Read on to see if that happened. As I’m typing this, I don’t know!
So yesterday on Jeopardy! (not in basketball), Laura Gallo beat Dave-Leigh.
Ooh, Word Puzzles and That 90s Show! Laura was so excited about the latter she didn’t wait for Trebek to tell her to select.
At the first break:
Laura 2800 (4 right)
Lily -1000 (3 right and 2 wrong)
Jose 2400 (6 right)
The last clue of the round was the Daily Double! Jose got it in At This Stage.
Laura 4600 (3 right)
Lily 1000 (3 right)
Jose 4800 (6 right and 2 wrong)
Jose wagered 1200 on this clue: “In Freudian theory, it’s the first stage of human development & breast-feeding plays a big part.” I was right but he wasn’t.
Ooh, cool, Geographic Saints! Oh, it wasn’t as exciting as it sounds.
Uh oh, Jose found a Daily Double almost right away in Drama Mamas.
Lily 1400 (One right)
Jose 4800 (One right)
Jose wagered 1200 again on this clue: “Mama buys a home in a mostly white neighborhood in this drama about the Youngers, a poor black family.” He was right this time.
Laura found the next Daily Double in Geographic Saints!
Laura 5000 (One right)
Lily 1800 (One right)
Jose 5200 (One wrong)
She wagered on this clue: “This British island in the south Atlantic once served as a refuge for liberated African slaves.” She was wrong, and I didn’t bother with it.
At the end of the round:
Laura 8200 (5 right)
Lily 2600 (4 right and one wrong)
Jose 12000 (6 right and one wrong)
The Final Jeopardy category is Foreign Leaders. This is the clue: “On February 25, 1956, he gave a speech ‘on the personality cult and its consequences,’ seen as an attack on his predecessor.” Sure enough, my recording ended right after Trebek finished reading the clue. I’ve tweeted for help. When I hear back from someone I’ll update this post! (ETA: I’m told that Jose won. I’m looking forward to seeing him play tomorrow.)
