The difference between a win and a loss in this specific game? At least $40,000 (third place in the tournament earns $50,000; semifinalists earn $10,000). Thus, I often find Tournament of Champions semifinals to be some of the most dramatic matches of the season. As you’ll see below, this one did not disappoint.
Today’s contestants:
Dan Feitel, an attorney from Gillette, NJ![]() |
John Schultz, a computer programmer from Ann Arbor, MI![]() |
Kerry Greene, a volunteer CASA guardian ad litem from Manchester, NH![]() |
My own thoughts? This semifinal reminded me about how shocking Jeopardy! results can sometimes be. For the suspense, back in November, I somehow managed to keep myself unspoiled on this specific result until I watched it, after my own pub quiz that night. The final outcome — especially seeing the responses to Final Jeopardy — was my favourite moment to date from my time writing for TJF. (A close second was watching Final Jeopardy during Game 1 of the 2014 Tournament of Champions final.) I’m probably slightly biased here, as when I was watching, I was twelve hours from a flight to Boston to watch the second semifinal with a group of Jeopardy! fans that included Kerry herself as well as Brennan Bushee. But I’ll get to more of that with tomorrow’s recap.
