Quick Recap & Today’s Final Jeopardy – December 15, 2016

Here’s tonight’s Final Jeopardy answer and question for Thursday, December 15, 2016:

Final Jeopardy! category: NYC TV

Final Jeopardy! clue/answer: In 2010, in its fourth season, this TV show shifted its primary setting to 6th Avenue, 2 blocks west

(correct response beneath the contestants)

During her run so far, Cindy Stowell has won $31,000. She had pledged to donate all of her winnings to cancer research. Unfortunately, Cindy passed away on December 5; she had competed on the show with stage IV cancer. Her friends and family will also appreciate donations on her behalf to the Cancer Research Institute. Many fans are watching the show and electing to donate $1 for each correct response they give while playing at home, an idea come up with by Chelsea Cohen, one of today’s challengers!

Also, another thing I’ve seen since Cindy’s run started, as I’ve seen a few people disappointed that Jeopardy! did not move up her airing so that Cindy herself might be able to watch: After her audition, Cindy’s taping was fast-tracked so that it would happen as soon as was possible. Because the show has returning champions, the show is obviously obligated to air episodes in the order that they were taped. This week of shows was literally the earliest that Cindy’s airdates could be. Finally, do rest assured that further proving how amazing the show’s production staff is: They ensured that an advance copy of Cindy’s episodes were sent to her. Cindy was able to see her episodes before her passing.

Today’s contestants:

Sara Quashnie, a library science graduate student from Livonia, Michigan
Chelsea Cohen, a production editor from Astoria, New York
Cindy Stowell, a science content developer from Austin, Texas (2-day total: $31,000)

What is Mad Men?

Today’s Jeopardy! results will go up on this page late afternoon, with full stats early evening. They will be seen in the comments section at the bottom of this page.

This is a reference to (spoiler alert!) the plot line at the end of Season 3 and the start of Season 4 of Mad Men to how the Sterling Cooper firm became Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. The offices of the new firm were on 6th Avenue.

Please remember, that if you were at all touched by Cindy’s story, that donations in her memory to the Cancer Research Institute would be greatly appreciated by her family and friends.

  2. I’m surprised Cindy Stowell won again today.

Final Jeopardy! in which the third-placed contestant is the only person to respond correctly to Final Jeopardy! has happened just over 10% of the time since the start of Season 32.

  3. Couldn’t be more pleased with Cindy Stowell’s success. Admire her courage in the face of a grim prognosis. I’m sure that most Jeopardy fans (e.g., those who don’t follow this site) know nothing about her passing. I sure hope that Alex delivers a tribute to her at the conclusion of her run.

  4. I admire Cindy’s bravery and am also hoping Alex says something.

Wow! I hadn’t heard of this before today. I have been watching her run and was just sort of sad that she seemed so uncomfortable on stage while winning- and thinking it was just “introversion” and/or “stage-fright”.

    What a trooper!
