Today’s Final Jeopardy – Wednesday, November 12, 2025

Warning: This page contains spoilers for the November 12, 2025, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Businesses) for Wednesday, November 12, 2025 (Season 42, Game 48):

A 2018 book about this company once valued at $9 billion was titled “Bad Blood”

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Lynette Perloff, an assessment specialist originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Lynette Perloff on Jeopardy!
Greg Saunders, an insurance reinspector from Bridgeport, Connecticut
Greg Saunders on Jeopardy!
Harrison Whitaker, a researcher originally from Terre Haute, Indiana (1-day total: $34,801)
Harrison Whitaker on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Yesterday, Harrison Whitaker ended the 4-game win streak of Allegra Kuney; today, he defends for the first time against Greg Saunders (no relation!) and Lynette Perloff.

Also, as we get closer to the Tournament of Champions cutoff, here are the postseason stakes for today’s game: If either challenger wins today, Aaron Levine clinches his spot in the Tournament of Champions. (The only way that Aaron doesn’t clinch is if Harrison wins exactly 3 games, losing on Friday, and surpasses $49,000 in winnings.) If Harrison wins for the rest of the week (making it to 4 wins), he’ll be held over until the 2027 postseason.

Correct response: What is Theranos?

Theranos was a multibillion-dollar biotech founded by Elizabeth Holmes, who claimed to have developed a method of testing blood from very small quantities; by 2015, the company was valued at $9 billion. However, academics and journalists began investigating the claims, with Wall Street Journal journalist John Carreyrou publishing investigative articles, and later Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup, a book chronicling Theranos’s rise and fall.

It’s tough for me to predict how business-related clues will play in Final Jeopardy; a number of the greats of the game have fallen to this category. That said, this Final felt relatively straightforward to me; I was able to figure it out with only cursory knowledge of the Theranos scandal.

12 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – Wednesday, November 12, 2025"

  1. Great book. Made me hate and feel sorry for Elizabeth Holmes at the same time. Yes, got this right away.

  2. Got it! And yes, “Business” is a tough category. I was watching the day H & R Block was the answer!😉

    • yeah, jeesh…who would have ever thought FedEx was the correct answer that day. 🙂 As business questions go, though, I thought this was an easier one since that was a NYT bestseller not too long ago, and I’d guess most if the contestants are well read.

  3. After a couple of seconds: “Theranos” (although I haven’t read the book, only read about the company in the news).
After another couple of seconds: why do I still remember that name?

  4. This was such a well-known scandal and Elizabeth Holmes was so notorious, the response came immediately as did a prediction of a triple get.

Based on his success in University Challenge and his first two appearances on “Jeopardy!” Harrison looks like he could go a long way. He’ll probably have to wait until next season’s ToC as I expect him to finish out the week as returning champion. Good luck, young man.

  5. Does anyone know what the answer was in the Jeopardy! round in the category Above Deck? The question was “What is dearth?”

  6. I got this nearly instantly, if for no other reason than Elizabeth Holmes and I are practically neighbors. She (along with Ghislaine Maxwell) is currently incarcerated at the federal prison about a mile away from where I live.

  7. I have no idea why I never even heard of Theranos and their downfall. I said Napster, but knew that was wrong, as blood was in the clue and figured that had something to do with the answer.

Retro congrats to Harrison on win #2! He seems very talented at this game. 🙂
