Who is Sofia Coppola?
Sofia Coppola, who won her Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Lost in Translation played the role of Michael Francis Rizzi, the son of Connie Corleone, in the famous baptism scene. Of course, her father, Francis Ford Coppola was the director of that film. She made a cameo as an immigrant girl in The Godfather Part II, and played Mary Corleone in The Godfather Part III, a role that was originally supposed to be Winona Ryder’s.

Judging note: On the 12th clue of Double Jeopardy, the judges ruled that Pat’s correction of “…While My Guitar Gently Weeps” came before any ruling on his original response of “…While My Guitar Gently Sleeps”. This correction is permitted by the rules upon which all contestants are briefed.

Miscellany:
Could have had our first tiebreaker this game.
It’s amazing how many near misses we’ve had in the past 2.5 seasons.
I don’t understand why Elisabeth only wagered $5,000. It sounded like she was banking on Brandon and Pat to miss Final.
She bet $15,000, not $5,000.
I don’t really get that wager, either.
Well, there are certainly worse wagers to make.
IMHO, any wager in that situation that isn’t “all” or “nothing” is equally bad, they’re all the worse wager to make. 🙂
Well, in this case, there is the range of “covers Brandon’s double” and “forces Brandon to get it right”, which she did hit.
My mistake. Still a mis-wager on her behalf.
What a great game and what a turn on Final! Congrats, Brandon! Knowing from JBoard that he had made the College auditions before getting The Call in regular play, and thus knowing what a big fan of the show he is, I would’ve been truly shocked had any number other than $9,201 appeared below his response.
Two clues that I especially smiled at: Places In Continents $800 (since I watched in Edmonton, Alberta’s capital) and I’ve Got 3 Names $400 (since I’ll be in Bell’s final resting place of Baddeck, Nova Scotia, on Wednesday).
Final was opaque to me for ten seconds until I stopped thinking about actresses in The Godfather and expanded to the film more generally, at which point the correct response snapped into focus. Would’ve been embarrassing had I missed it, as Francis Ford Coppola is the most well known alumnus of my alma mater, Hofstra University.
I thought ties were no longer allowed after November 7, 2014.
You are correct. Ties at the end of the game get broken (as opposed to prior, where both contestants would return).
