Georgia O'Keeffe's "The Lawrence Tree", as asked about during Final Jeopardy! on September 11, 2017

The Lawrence Tree was painted in O’Keeffe’s first summer in New Mexico, on the D. H. Lawrence ranch in New Mexico. The perspective was done by O’Keeffe lying on a bench looking up at a tree, and could feasibly be hung in any orientation, though O’Keeffe’s preference matches the orientation that the Wadsworth Atheneum currently uses.

You can get a print of the painting at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art.

  2. Great! The season starts with a strike out. Europe again the downfall.Stein was born in Pa.
    Lewis was at least Irish.

  3. I meant Lawrence, born in England. Got sidetracked by the “lewis” answer. Still early morning here, just got up.

  4. am i the only one who knows the new season started?

  5. Tough FJ to start off the season; had to know that O’Keefe had a painting called “The Lawrence Tree” or that D.H. Lawrence lived in New Mexico. I didn’t know either tidbit. Not surprised it was a triple stumper.
