    MERKEL???? That’s a good one!!!

I’ll be curious to see how many of the contestants get the FJ correct. I didn’t, because while I’ve seen plenty of TV ads for this actress, I couldn’t recall her name. Also, I don’t watch the show.

That said, the contestants may know the answer based on studying. Entertainment industry award winners are one of the pillars of trivia.

  3. I am dreading the possibility that someone misspells it as “Hartigay”, as it was recently mispronounced.

  4. John, why are you so negative when it comes to Jeopardy? Andy is a human being, you are human, and I am too. Why are you always looking for GOTCHA moments? EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES.

Andy runs a GREAT web site. That’s the one thing that makes him exceptional. I have no clue what goes on in most people’s daily life. Do you?

    • john blahuta | December 8, 2017 at 5:58 pm |

Kay, the only time I wrote “gotcha” was 2 days ago, and that was right below the correct prediction of ONE right. That’s what the “gotcha” was referring too. Today I just wrote “That’s a good one” because Angela Merkel initially showed up as correct response, obviously a computer glitch. Merkel the daughter of Jayne Mansfield? That IS kind of funny. PLEASE lighten up a little, I just found that funny and let Andy know that the computer somehow screwed up, for God’s sake!

Have a nice weekend everybody and take things easy…..!

      • John:

It did come across a bit like you were pouncing on me, so I can certainly understand why Kay reacted how she did (by the way, thank you, Kay.)

Andy, I like a little “dark” humor from time to time. Sorry that Kay misunderstood that. We should all take life a little more from the lighter side and not be that serious right away. Life itself is serious enough as it is. I just saw the pictures of Merkel and Mansfield (the one that is pretty famous, at a reception where also Sophia Loren attended and it looked like Mansfield was popping out, sort of, at any moment) in my mind’s eye and couldn’t help but to chuckle. There are not many women that are such a COMPLETE opposite of each other in terms of looks, when it comes to Merkel and Mansfield. Back then when Mansfield was wearing what she usually did at a party was “normal” I think the phrase “politically correct” was not invented yet and wouldn’t for a long time, and I have never seen Merkel in anything different than a business suit and shoes with flat heels, looking almost like jogging or tennis shoes. An outfit any man could wear. Comparing Merkel and Mansfield in terms of attractive is like comparing Montana,Young,Marino etc with a 6 year old playing tag. It just did strike me as extremely funny right away. I will try to be more “somber” in the future and will leave humor in ANY form out of it.Obviously it is too easily misunderstood when it is somewhat “tongue in cheek”. I just often see the funny or – if you will- ironic side of things but not in a mean way. You gotta admit that if Merkel were too stand next to Mansfield in one of her top heavy party dresses….well, it could not be more different. And Merkel seems to be a very “somber” person too. I wonder if she ever laughed REALLY HARD in her life.Thatcher never minced words e.g. Some of her comments or speeches sounded pretty harsh but were in fact hilarious when you took a few seconds to get the double or triple meaning of what the “Iron Lady” was saying. I liked her style, especially when she was sounding like a schoolmarm but was probably grinning on the inside like a Cheshire cat!
So please, y’all, forgive me when sometimes just can’t help it.
It is certainly not meant in a way to put anyone down, though sometimes when something is REALLY funny it can happen as if somebody looks like s/he just got a pie in her/his face.
I just like things like Oliver/Hardy or – especially- Wile E. Coyote. Once I saw an hour of Roadrunner cartoons while I was waiting for an important phone call and had nothing better to do than watching cartoons. After awhile I was LITERALLY just hanging in the chair, almost on the floor and could not stop laughing though you know exactly what is going to happen when you watch Wile cartoons.
I hope you all understand where I am coming from- and yes, it may sound silly or even “agressive” sometimes – but there are situations where you say or do something just because it seems funny. Just for the heck of it or “Ars gratia artis” so to speak….
Anyway, please DO have a great weekend everybody and maybe you find a station that is running old Wile E. Coyote cartoons..?!

I thought Laura added a “The” to an Olive Garden clue sometime in the game. Did the judges miss it, or is that still considered correct, despite “The” not being in the official name?

  6. would they accept “who is jayne mansfield’s daughter who stars on Law and Order:SVU? do they accept giant descriptors in place of names

  7. Plus two for Television; minus one for Actresses. Voila!

  8. I could picture Hargitay in my mind. I’ve watched plenty of SVU with my wife and I enjoy her acting, but I just had no idea what her name was.

  9. Andy, I enjoy checking out your web site whenever I can, and this section can be both information and entertaining, but have you considered limiting the length of comments? It wouldn’t affect most people, who are concise and logical, but occasionally a post wanders so far from the point that it fails to have one (not to mention the length of time it takes to get through it).
