Correct response: What is Requiem (in D Minor)?

Did you know that you can now find game-by-game stats of everyone, including Austin Rogers, who has won 10 or more games on Jeopardy!, here on the site?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

Mozart’s Requiem in D Minor was commissioned by the Count Franz von Walsegg-Stuppach; intended as a tribute to the count’s wife, the Count liked to pretend that he was a better composer than he was.

As he was also working on a pair of operas and beginning to suffer from the illnesses that would kill him, the piece was unfinished by Mozart at the time of his death and has been completed by others since.

4 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – December 20, 2018"

  1. Hey everyone – it’s Jackie here. I haven’t watched this episode (can’t bear to), but thought I’d let you know what happened. I had a serious hypoglycemic episode during the taping that was so bad I thought I might have had a stroke.

What you won’t see today is the l…o…n…g break we took before the interviews. Alex Trebek just went out and talked to the audience and the producers found me some electrolyte punch and poor Andrew and Carrie had to stand there and wait. I was offered an EMT but turned it down. I didn’t think it was fair to Andrew and Carrie who had both gotten off to a great start. So I got up and somehow got through it.

It was a disappointing end for me because I love the categories for once and final Jeopardy was my ultimate dream category. But I couldn’t even parse the clue right (I heard “final symphony,” and put the correct answer to that.). I was barely functional at that point.

I would have been behind Andrew going into final no matter what as he was very smart and very quick on the buzzer. But I think on any other day, I’d have been within 50% of him and not blown final Jeopardy. So… a bittersweet way to end and on my birthday no less.

    • Jackie — thanks much for the background info; it was toward the end of a long day on your feet so it’s not surprising that your energy reserves may have been depleted.

Enjoyed your run and ToC could still happen. We’ll hope that we may be able to watch you and Andy chat in a future Live Panel.

    • Jackie – you were just incredible and I’ll be rooting for you to make it to the TOC. I think one of the things you don’t see when watching the show on TV is how draining it can be to be on repeated shows, but for you to continue after a hypoglycaemic episode shows what a badass you are.

  2. Thank you for sharing, Jackie. I have had Type 1 diabetes for 52 years and have experienced severe hypoglycemia. I have had better success recently in avoiding severe hypoglycemia by using CGM technology. Congratulations on your outstanding run! Stay well.
