Correct response: Who is (Sir George) Downing?
More information about Final Jeopardy:
Stateside, George Downing is best remembered as the person who orchestrated the acquisition of New York from the Dutch. In England, however, he was a Member of Parliament and Teller of the Exchequer (essentially Treasury Secretary) who instituted many public finance reforms. In return for his work, he was granted the land on which Downing Street in London is now situated.
10 Downing Street is the official residence of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (through his status of First Lord of the Treasury). 11 Downing Street is the official residence of the Second Lord of the Treasury (Chancellor of the Exchequer); however, of the two officials, whoever has the larger family usually takes up residence at the larger 11.
Accessing the street today requires passing through a security checkpoint.
