Wondering why James Holzhauer isn’t taking part? This tournament originally aired in February, prior to James even being known by everyone, and is re-airing over the next two weeks. James returns in November.

Correct response: What is “Tiger, Tiger”?

Did you know that you can now find game-by-game stats of everyone, including James Holzhauer, who has won 10 or more games on Jeopardy!, here on the site?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

“Tiger! Tiger!” is the third chapter of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, the tiger being referred to in the story is Shere Khan.

It gets its title from the William Blake poem of 1794, “The Tyger”, which opens “Tyger Tyger, burning bright, / In the forests of the night; / What immortal hand or eye, / Could frame thy fearful symmetry?”

On a more general note: I thought that this was a very worthy Final Jeopardy! clue for this tournament. While I personally did not get it, it garnered the reaction of “Oh, of course, I should have known that!” as soon as I determined the answer.

Since Alex Trebek’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, many community members have been raising money. The Jeopardy! Fan Online Store is as well! All proceeds from any “Keep The Faith And We’ll Win” shirt sold will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. To date, over $370 has been raised.)

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • Because tomorrow’s scores can be doubled in Final Jeopardy, Team Colby has an effective lead of $1,200 over Team Austin and $3,800 over Team Buzzy.
  • That was a very close, evenly-matched game. A bit closer than I expected to see between Alex and Roger on the buzzer, but then again, Alex was outbuzzed by Brad to open the tournament.
  • I like to say that Final Jeopardy! on Day 1 in a 2-game match is like a Daily Double that all 3 teams get to play. Everyone really felt comfortable with that category; the bets just didn’t work out. As I said up top, I didn’t get this one either.
  • Expect to see Alex Jacob come out guns blazing tomorrow in Double Jeopardy for Team Buzzy. The scores from today are low enough such that Alex won’t have as uphill a climb as he did in the first game.
  • I have to say, Colby was very impressive picking up $17,000 in score during Double Jeopardy!
