More information about Final Jeopardy:

After John Brown led an abolitionist insurgency which took over a U.S. arsenal at Harpers Ferry, Virginia, President James Buchanan ordered a company of U.S. Marines, led by Robert E. Lee, to attack and re-take the arsenal; two years later, Lee resigned from the U.S. Army to become a commander of the Confederate States Army.

Harpers Ferry became part of West Virginia a few years later during the Civil War.

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • Justin said “you’re not supposed to say (Macbeth) on the stage—cursed name, but I think it’s okay here” in his interview. After missing two Daily Doubles in Double Jeopardy, I’m not so sure.

  1. Incredibly low scores everywhere you look and Travis keeps chugging along – with a 3 day total averaging $12401.
When is the REAL Jeopardy coming back..?

    • Well, at least he got over 17K today. But the 3 games before, starting Friday…. and now we have 9 wrong DDs out of 12 for the last 4 games. 75%, the same percentage as for all clues in yesterday’s game. 25% TS yesterday out of 60 possible clues. Actually higher since not all clues were played.

  2. Consider that though Travis’s $12,401 average over three games seems very low that it exceeds the great Brad Rutter’s average over 5 regular games! So although about a 7% chance to win 5, Travis could make TOC, though some would argue if he did at current averages that he wasn’t worthy. But I’d support his going.

I wonder what the lowest 5 day winning total and lowest total to qualify for TOC are.

    • Of course Brad’s total was before scores were doubled, so his total then wasn’t low but somewhat average.

      • That’s what inflation will do to you…🤑
But congrats to Travis. Today he did not have to come from behind. Still he’s getting only a 26.373% chance to win 4 games…

    • Gary Palmer made ToC #2 with 4 wins and $18,400 while Donald Burgo won 5 and made that same ToC with $26,180
Melissa Zygmunt made ToC #14 with 4 wins and $23,549
Paul Nelson won 5 and $54,900 to get in ToC #24 in 2013

Are the questions harder, for a variety of reasons? Are people more nervous these days because of all that is going in the world, making it harder to come up with answers in the time allowed. I will watch tonight and analyze more.

    • You might be overthinking this, Maurine.I believe we are just in a spell where -whoever decides who gets on the air – picked by chance players who might not be as strong as on average. It will probably and hopefully correct and even itself out. Sometimes you have trends in all ways of life where things go different for no apparent reason for a time against all odds. The stress etc is the same. Otherwise we would have had a complete slump after 9/11 e.g. or after other terrible events.
Just the luck- or misfortune – of the draw. I think it is just a coincidence that the last few games were subpar. We shall see.
Because 9 wrong DDs in 12 and missing 25% plus of the clues in one game is certainly not the norm. Let’s hope for the best!

  4. There are lots of ways to win a game, and Travis has mastered the vulture method: just sit back and wait for your opponents to die.
