It made me smile this morning to wake up, get my coffee, and see a Final Jeopardy! clue that opens with the phrase “After the removal of the dictator”. On Election Day.
Now onto the matter of this Final Jeopardy! clue: Libya’s flag from 1977 to 2011 was a green field (noteworthy in that it was the only national flag in the world at the time to consist of a single color and no further details). It was colored green after Muammar Gaddafi’s “Green Book”. After Gaddafi was ousted amidst the Arab Spring in 2011, the flag reverted to the Libyan flag used from 1951 until Gaddafi’s takeover in 1969: a red, double-width black, and green tricolor with a white crescent and five-pointed star centered on the black stripe.

There will be no broadcast of Jeopardy in Philadelphia today because of the election coverage on ABC6. Is there anyplace it will be shown?
Unfortunately, if it is not shown in your local area, there would be no way to watch the episode.
J! Archive already has today’s game. You can get the questions and answers. Not the same as watching the game. http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6858

Same here on WWNY 7News because of the election
WABC in NYC moved the show yo it’s digital channel. Makes it very hard to find
After seeing you use this line so much, I must say that your “removal of the dictator on election day” remark was completely uncalled for. I respect whoever you support, but I didn’t come here for political commentary or taglines. I simply came here for trivia and facts.
“We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” — Elie Wiesel’s Nobel Prize speech
This. I join you and enjoying, after the removal of the dictator,” Andy, and I’m glad you pointed it out, as I did not catch it. Bravo!
It is — or at least should be — a truth universally acknowledged, that The Jeopardy! Fan‘s coverage of America’s Favorite Quiz Show reflects the world view of its editor-in-chief. If that’s a problem for anyone, they’re free not to read it.
Thank you Andy for this quote from Mr. Wiesel’s admirable Nobel speech. And thank you for all of your efforts putting this site together. And go Joe!
Andy why do my comments continue to appear with “Your comment is awaiting moderation”?
I responded the last time you posted this question in a previous game thread, Richard.
I don’t frequent your site for political commentary, disappointed you feel a game show trivia forum is appropriate. But it is your right.
My two cents: it’s Andy’s blog and he can say what he wants. Anyone is free to ignore him.
But we are not free to express our contrary opinions because he will just delete them. That sounds a lot like a ‘dictator’.
Gary:
The fact that a discussion is even happening right now disproves your point—had the original comment (Jason’s) been deleted, there would not be a discussion.
I live in Connecticut, close enough to New York City to get all their channels as well. Jeopardy! will not be aired anywhere in my viewing area.
I am very grateful for this blog.
Congrats to Devin on a very healthy first win.
Warning: Today’s summary includes Opinion.
Check local listings for anything in the late hours of the night. In Denver, the show is carried on the Fox affiliate,so we have had several postponements lately due to the baseball playoffs and Thursday night football. I have found the delayed listings usually around 2 or 3 in the morning, and then adjustment my DVR to add extra time on the beginning ant the end times to make sure i actually have gotten that days program, and it usually has worked. Hard to say if the local stations are making that kind of adjustment for tonight, but it would be worth checking.
Carmela’s high DD cost her the game.
Sean, let me first say that I am unable to see the show tonight. I disagree with your statement. Based on what I read here, no matter how much she wagered, her score would still have been less than what Devin ended up with at the end of DJ. His DD wager could have been affected by the score, but it seems like he knew what to wager at that time, so he would have wagered something similar to that if her score was higher with a lower wager on her DD. Since both got the FJ clue correct, Carmela wouldn’t have won because Devin would have wagered enough to beat her.
Thanks for the laugh, Andy. I didn’t catch the phrasing of today’s FJ so was glad you did. The show’s writers earned points from me today. I did guess the wrong country though, having seen The Last King of Scotland where my brain stayed.
In HI – due to the time zone- it is aired at 1 pm HST (6 pm EST).
Possibly also in Alaska.
Well, I watched the game, and for Carmela fans like me, it was disappointing. Live by the sword (aggressive daily double wager), die by the sword. Most interesting part of the game was when she explained her 0 bet in yesterday’s final jeopardy (She basically said she was “shy”), but that explanation contradicts her aggressive daily double wagers in the previous few games.
