It made me smile this morning to wake up, get my coffee, and see a Final Jeopardy! clue that opens with the phrase “After the removal of the dictator”. On Election Day.
Now onto the matter of this Final Jeopardy! clue: Libya’s flag from 1977 to 2011 was a green field (noteworthy in that it was the only national flag in the world at the time to consist of a single color and no further details). It was colored green after Muammar Gaddafi’s “Green Book”. After Gaddafi was ousted amidst the Arab Spring in 2011, the flag reverted to the Libyan flag used from 1951 until Gaddafi’s takeover in 1969: a red, double-width black, and green tricolor with a white crescent and five-pointed star centered on the black stripe.

We were able to watch tonight’s episode, even though the Jeopardy website, my FiOS channel guide, and my local ABC affiliate website (Channel 6 in Philly) ALL said it wasn’t going to air here.
Since the ABC-owned affiliate in NYC said they would carry it on their digital subchannel (Local-ish), I decided to check out the Philly Local-ish channel at 7pm, and it was there. I’m watching Wheel now as I write this.
It was an absolutely terrible job by WPVI on this. Airing the games on Local-ish, while welcome, contradicted what the official Jeopardy! website had posted regarding the Philadelphia market. And only one Tweet was put out by the station about the station shift — and that was thirty-four minutes before Jeopardy! started.
In sum: the station either made this decision much later than it should have, or it did far to little to publicize it.
(Personally, it didn’t affect me, in that I employed a method similar to that I imagine Andy uses to watch earlier. And I recorded my highest-ever Coryat in a regular game since I started keeping track in 2016: $40,400.)
Love when the contestants show some happiness upon winning!
Judging from comments I’ve seen on other discussion forums, it seems that people object to political discussions or comments when they don’t conform to their own beliefs.
I will miss you Carmela!
