Good morning! Today is Monday, April 19, 2021 (Season 37, Game 146). It’s the first day of Anderson Cooper’s hosting stint. I’ve been looking forward to these two weeks, as Anderson Cooper has been considered the favorite since late 2014 to replace Alex Trebek. One more thing that I’d like to note: There are a lot of people who believe that Anderson Cooper is the face of “fake news”, as they have been brainwashed by the cult of Donald Trump into believing this. I will make this abundantly clear: if you believe that Anderson Cooper proffers fake news, you are wrong, your opinion is not valid, you have been brainwashed by a fascist cult leader, you need to be deprogrammed, and you are not welcome here at this website. Moreover, you have completely ruined the ability of anyone to have any sort of reasonable discourse in both the replacement host search and in today’s society in general.
Now: Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Paintings):
The New York Times noted “balls of orange-yellow light” & “the town off in the distance” from the artist’s window in this piece
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s contestants:
Mike Nelson, an actor originally from Chesterton, Indiana![]() |
Donna Vorreyer, a writer & retired teacher from Willowbrook, Illinois![]() |
Patrick Hume, a project manager originally from Stoneham, Massachusetts (3-day total: $60,500)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Patrick has played a very strong three games, winning the last three of Aaron Rodgers’ stint. If he can pick up a different host’s cadence—which can be difficult—Patrick should be able to win a fourth game. It’s never easy coming back for a new week, though.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Great comments and fully agree on your statement today. As to Anderson Cooper as a host, is very good, but he is just a beat slow on confirming correct answers. I suspect he may be getting cued from producers on this and that may be causing the lag. Otherwise he is fine and I like his personality.
