Today’s Final Jeopardy – Wednesday, August 11, 2021

Welcome to Season 37’s final Wednesday; it is Day 3 of Joe Buck’s hosting stint. $51,400 has been donated thus far to Kidsmart thus far. Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category World Flags) for Wednesday, August 11, 2021 (Season 37, Game 228):

The use of red, yellow & green as Pan-African colors began with the flag of this nation, the continent’s oldest independent country

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s contestants:

Max Wagner, a musician originally from Chicago, Illinois
Max Wagner on Jeopardy!
Brianna Weck, a community engagement manager from Arlington, Virginia
Brianna Weck on Jeopardy!
Matt Amodio, a Ph.D student from New Haven, Connecticut (15-day total: $475,600)
Matt Amodio on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: When a streak gets this long, the #1 question going into every episode: will today be the day that the champion gets defeated? Our challengers are going to need to do better on the Daily Doubles than Matt does in order to have a chance.

Interestingly, Mike Richards did put a minor spoiler in his recent email to the Jeopardy! staff (the one that was nearly immediately leaked and reported on by the media), making reference to an end total donated to charity that has yet to be announced.

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Ethiopia has long been admired by the rest of Africa for its generally being able to avoid lengthy stretches of being occupied by colonial powers (as Italy was only able to occupy it for a few years in the late 1930s). Its tricolor of green, gold, and red horizontal bands have become the pan-African colors and have been used on the flags of numerous African countries. Ghana was the first country outside of Ethiopia to incorporate the colors into its own flag, doing so in 1957.

  1. I’m enjoying Joe Buck way more than I thought I would. He just needs to tone down the volume of his voice a bit but at this point in his sports announcer career he probably can’t 😊.

Should have been Buzzy or Ken. This whole thing has been very slimy and underhanded.

  2. Joe Buck is definitely growing on me. There are so many hosts that clearly outshine MR! Oh well, hopefully , he will grow into the job over time.
