Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Literature for Children) for Friday, October 15, 2021 (Season 38, Game 25):
These stories got their collective title because little Josephine Kipling insisted they be told exactly the same way each time
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s contestants:
Connie Smith, a mechanical engineer from Oviedo, Florida![]() |
Nima Aghili, a lawyer & legal recruiter from Overland Park, Kansas![]() |
Jonathan Fisher, an actor originally from Coral Gables, Florida (4-day total: $94,000)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: In case anyone is wondering, the longest streak for anyone who has taken down a super-champion (anyone who has won 6 or more games) is Buzzy Cohen, who won 9 games in 2016 after defeating 6-game champion Andrew Pau. While Jonathan is still a week away from tying that, he has won 4 games and is going for win #5 today.
On a slightly more personal note: From October 16-23, there will be a 168-hour charity live-streaming relay on Twitch to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada; more information can be found at gamersvsms.ca. 1 in 385 Canadians live with MS. I’ll be doing my shift as part of the relay on Thursday, October 21 from 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM EDT on my own Twitch channel, twitch.tv/andythequizzer/.
I’d also like to thank everyone for their well-wishes in yesterday’s game thread; as I alluded to in the recap, I had a stone-passing incident yesterday that was incredibly painful. I feel much better today.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Correct response: What is Just So Stories?
More information about Final Jeopardy: (The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2021 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
Just So Stories is a collection of stories published in 1902 by Rudyard Kipling; the name came because Josephine insisted on her father telling the first three stories “just so” at bed, i.e. with the exact same words she was used to, or she would wake up and correct him. The book is a collection of “origin stories”, or, how animals (or other parts of our world) came to be. Stories in the book include “How the Leopard Got His Spots”, “How the Camel Got His Hump”, and “How the Alphabet Was Made”.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- I was disappointed that Connie kept on going to $400 clues in Double Jeopardy, instead of hunting for Daily Doubles like Jonathan was. The outcome may have been different today had Connie found the last two betting clues.

I’m glad you’re better, Andy.
Happy to hear you are on the mend. Thank you for your great site management and information.
Glad you’re feeling better! I had that Kipling collection when I was a child. Wish I’d kept it. Lovely memories now. Great site, so thank you.
I forgot that Buzzy took down Andrew. Talk about a guy who comes to play against top competition. It’s too bad we won’t see him behind the player’s lectern again.
With Matt gone I’ve been pretty unengaged by Jeopardy this week. I’m coming to realize that while I think her hosting is adequate and her past comments and behavior aren’t disqualifying, I just don’t want to hang out with Mayim Bialik every night.
Looking forward to Ken. Maybe Jonathan can make it all the way there. 😉
Looked up that epic Andrew Pau vs Buzzy Cohen clash. The combined Coryat was a whopping $51,400. The unfortunate third person, Jeanne Roper also played great, with 16 right, 0 wrong and $27,995 after FJ. Andrew was 19 right, 0 wrong with $28,001, while Buzzy was 23 right, 1 wrong and $33,601. Biggest difference was Buzzy landing all 3 DDs.
DDs often plays a big role! I noticed that in Matt’s loss he got 0 of the DD’s, the ONLY time in his 39 games he didn’t hit a DD and get at least 1 correct!
Danny, you should check out Andrew’s first game as well. Another instant classic, probably my favorite game of all time.
👍
Now his place is fully assured in the Tournament of Champions. We have a potential Matt Amodio vs. Jonathan Fisher rematch!
So glad you are feeling better andy and also we thank you for the recaps of jeopardy. This is great information to keep us updated. John has now secured his spot in the tournament of champions and a possible rematch with Matt. This is the first that I have heard of just so stories since I haven’t read them yet. A good game today for John so I hope he gets game 6 on monday
Some of them were incorporated in a song in Disney’s Song of the South. I didn’t realize Kipling and Joel C. Harris were acquaintances
This may have been answered previously, but why not give the actual clues for the three daily doubles in addition to the categories and wagers? Does Jeopardy! forbid the publication of game clues other than the one for Final Jeopardy?
J-archive.com gives all the game clues after the game shows.
Glad you’re better Andy.
We’ll see Matt and Jonathan for sure in the next TOC and hopefully Jonathan becomes a super champ tomorrow.
Tomorrow is Saturday! 🙂
It’s great that Jonathan won his 5th game today. Hopefully he’ll win his 6th game on Monday and eventually become a superchamp. And hopefully he and Matt will battle it out together in the ToC next year.
Andy, I’m glad that you are feeling a lot better.
Jonathan kept his wager low to assure win #5 and ToC. He is now the biggest winner to defeat a millionaire champion.
I knew it right away thanks to my mom introducing the stories to me at a young age, although it’s been many, many years since I’ve heard anyone say anything about them so I figured this one would be tough.
2 nights in a row with no Jeopardy! due to football last night and baseball tonight. So glad I can catch the results here. Thank you!
