Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Even though today is a holiday, Jeopardy! still airs today. Also note that there are pre-emptions in a number of major Western markets tonight, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland, as the Cardinals–Rams game kicks off on ABC at 8:15 PM Eastern (5:15 PM Pacific). Make sure you check your local listings to find the rescheduled airtime. As per my sources: Reno, Fresno, and Sacramento are planning on 9:00 PM (PT), Los Angeles and Seattle at 9:30 PM, Portland at 10:00 PM, and San Francisco at 10:30 PM.
In terms of the game: Amy returns to the studio as a 33-day champion. Ken in the past has made a bit of a deal about “the Monday Curse”—a lot of long-running champions have lost on a Monday. However, the first taping of the day has also been Amy’s strongest thus far. It’ll be interesting to see what happens today!

Correct response: What is Tyrannosaurus Rex?

In 1905, Henry Fairfield Osborn, then the president of the American Museum of Natural History, was tasked with naming a pair of dinosaur skeletons that were found in eastern Wyoming and in the Hell Creek Formation in Montana. Osborn named the two skeletons Tyrannosaurus Rex amd Dynamosaurus Imperiosus before realizing a year later that the different skeletons actually belonged to the same species, and selected Tyrannosaurus Rex as the preferred name of the species. Today, T. Rex is probably the best-known dinosaur species, with numerous depictions throughout popular culture.

- A friendly reminder to viewers that the show’s pronunciation rules are such that if a mispronunciation could reasonably be spelled the same way as a correct response, the mispronunciation is accepted. This is so as not to penalize those who learn by reading. The converse is also true—misspellings in Final Jeopardy are accepted as long as the misspelling could reasonably be pronounced the same way. (And yes, speaking of the number of people who get Sanders vs. Saunders mixed up in terms of spelling pronunciation, I would say that Amy’s spelling, missing a U, is perfectly acceptable to me.)

No. Even if they had, it would be particularly awkward, considering her death between taping and airing.
It was awkward enough in 2020, with Alex wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving and later a Merry Christmas, knowing he had died in early November. 🙁
That “Tyrannosarus” spelling is actually on the line for me, but it’s been more than a decade since I last studied linguistics. I’ll defer to the experts.
Plus, it’s the show’s money, and I’d rather Amy have more of it!
I overthought this one, that maybe the imperial “saurus” could have been referencing the automobile, since I think Ford debuted around the same time. Then I reread the part about “gave this its name” and realized it had to be a dinosaur and given the second word of the term, it was like T. rex.
T rex was also my response with the imperial as the hint here. They are quite fierce. Bjt still glad this was a triple solve for the players.
The final category of scientific names is NOT displayed as an option on the Alaska Sweepstakes category listing !?
This is a fan site. I am not able to troubleshoot any sweepstakes issues.
I do not believe Amy correctly answered the question where she said the persons name was Moyer (2 syllables) but should have said the correct name of Muir (1 syllable).
1) You failed to read the section in the post above which specifically addresses this point.
2) I believe she said “Muy…” not “Moy…”
I understand the rule, but I don’t confuse 1 syllabol from 2, and based on what I heard, Amy said a 2 syllabol last name where it is only 1 syllabol. so that gives anyone a green light to be close, like saying Ball is the same as bayall

You’ve completely missed the point. As long as the pronounced response could reasonably be spelled that way — and I contend “Muy-yer” could be spelled M-U-I-R, especially if the “Muy” is the M-U-I, the judges were correct in their ruling. Once again, if you have never heard the name “Muir” pronounced, requiring a correct pronunciation would effectively penalize those who learn by reading. And, quite frankly, that’s not what this show is about.
Tried entering the Jeopardy contest for Alaska – the choices are not related to today’s game. Do you have to enter immediately after the show?
While the show has not acknowledged any issues, there appear to have been technical issues tonight. I personally believe that they are the result of the server assigned to collect the entries being set to an incorrect time zone.
That being said, this is just a fan site and I am in no way able to troubleshoot any issues that people are having.
