Matt Mierswa has been playing very well over his first two games, picking up over $50,000 and dominating yesterday’s Double Jeopardy! round. However, his one weak point thus far—if you can really call it that—has been that he is just 2-for-5 on the Daily Doubles over his first two games. That might provide an opening for an opponent to take him down. Emmie and Stan certainly would be happy if they were the beneficiary of that today!
On a more personal note: For the past two and a half years, I have often raised money for the MS Society of Canada through their “Gamers vs. MS” program. This July, Gamers vs. MS is running a month-long fundraising campaign called “Boss Battles.” In an attempt to raise $25,000, the Gamers vs. MS team has designed a “fundraising adventure” to defeat eight evil bosses. Capricornus, from the Latin for “horned goat,” is well-known today as one of the constellations of the Zodiac; “Deneb” is the Arabic word for “tail,” and “kid” is a reference to the fact that children of goats are known as “kids.”
Will Capricorn on its own be accepted? As this write-up was written before I’ve seen the show, I can’t say with 100% certainty either way.

I strongly agree with several other commentators regarding ”Deneb..” Yes, the clue regarding a goat was important; yet, “Deneb” (flat out) is a VERY well-known star, the brightest in the constellation Cygnus, and one of the top 20 in brightness in the night sky. This “Jeopardy!” clue is very close, if not over, to the border of being confusing to the point of unfairness. “Deneb” by itself is Arabic for “tail.”
Sorry about any punctuation mistakes or grammatical ones. I tend to write fairly long comments, and I’m using a phone that is awful in terms of both dictation ability and screen size; however, this gives me a chance to tell Andy thanks so much for keeping this site going. You know that somebody is doing a heck of a lot of A+ work when he attracts so many imitators who are not so hot.
people here complain that this clue hints too much at another constellation, yet none of the contestants guessed that constellation which y’all were worried about. Guess it wasn’t unfair after all.
I got right away that “kid” was referencing a goat’s offspring but couldn’t remember the constellation associated with it (senior moment?). For a guy who gets a lot of Triple Stumpers, I got none, though there were only four. Back I slither into the primordial ooze . . .
I’m a bit late with this, but a telescope is no aid, or even necessary, to view constellations.
