Joe Henthorn, a primary school teacher from Manchester![]() |
Abby Hallett, an alumni relations officer from Berkshire (2-day total: £4,850)![]() |
Andy’s Pre-Game Thoughts:
2-day champion Abby Hallett takes on Manchester’s Joe Henthorn and Bedfordshire’s Natalie Warren.
One thing that I do enjoy about there being extra clues in this version compared to the American one is that each British game right now contains 44 extra clues to buzz in on, which is almost an extra full-length American game for the challengers to get warmed up on the signaling device. This, at least to me, feels like more of an equalizing factor, and will generally make for more exciting games overall.

Nice to see the Tim Hortons clue – something I have enjoyed from previous visits to Canada! We’re gradually getting a few of them in the UK and they proudly display their Canadian heritage. However, there are not many in London and the South East, and none in Berkshire, so it was a good get for Abby. (I went to one a couple of times when visiting Birmingham, but improbably a Second Cup – one of only two in Britain apparently – opened across the road and I found I liked that better. Unfortunately the Second Cup closed last year.)
I said trapezium for FJ – I think I should be embarrassed about that!
Second Cup is the much better chain.
Yes, I’m sorry we’ve lost them over here.
Does Second Cup have better coffee, better food, a better setup, better customer service, or what? I am not a coffee drinker, but when our Canadian in-laws brought my husband some Tim Horton’s ground coffee he loved it so much he won’t hardly drink anything else — good thing we can get it in some groceries (for now, anyway).
Personally I prefer the coffee and service (although my only recent experience is from Birmingham and may not be representative of Canada at all!)
