Today’s Final Jeopardy – Monday, June 9, 2025

Warning: This page contains spoilers for the June 9, 2025, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Movie Titles) for Monday, June 9, 2025 (Season 41, Game 196):

This title of a Hollywood blockbuster is a national symbol of Gabon

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Jackie Rogoff, a writer & library student from Santa Cruz, California
Jackie Rogoff on Jeopardy!
Ted Nyman, a startup founder from San Francisco, California
Ted Nyman on Jeopardy!
Nikhil Joshi, a veterinarian originally from Montville, New Jersey (2-day total: $20,199)
Nikhil Joshi on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

A new week of Jeopardy! play—the 40th of 46 of Season 41—begins this week. With sister program Wheel of Fortune entering reruns as usual after 39, this is your yearly reminder that no other syndicated game show puts out more episodes per season than Jeopardy! does at 230. (46 weeks of 5 episodes).

Veterinarian Nikhil Joshi returns today to the Alex Trebek Stage as a 2-day champion, doing battle with startup founder Ted Nyman and writer/library student Jackie Rogoff. I know of the two challengers, I think I’m more likely to cheer for the one with ties to libraries!

2018’s Black Panther was certainly a blockbuster, grossing more than $1.3 billion worldwide, and is still one of the top 20 highest-grossing films of all time. It also shares its name with the black panther, one of Gabon’s national symbols—with a pair of them as supporters of the shield on the Gabonese coat of arms.

I always enjoy Final Jeopardy clues when they can be worded incredibly succinctly like this. Short and sweet!

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • Wagering suggestions are not posted due to today’s game being a runaway.
  • Viewers are reminded that failing to phrase in the form of a question is a warning offense in the opening round, and only a penalty in Double Jeopardy.
  • Today’s box score will be linked to when posted by the show.

8 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – Monday, June 9, 2025"

  1. Commenters are reminded that implications that the show is not entirely above board are completely unacceptable and will result in offenders having all of their comments placed in moderation for a period of time, if not an outright ban from the comments section. (Apologies to those of you who provided an excellent rebuttal, though.)

    • Confused here, Andy. I don’t see anything untoward here, nor any excellent rebuttals. Maybe everything but your message itself was deleted before I showed up just now. Or maybe the untoward comment was made elsewhere. Please enlighten. Thanks.

      • Robert J. Fawkes | June 9, 2025 at 8:20 pm |

Obviously, if the comments are unacceptable, they are not going to appear here in the first place. Andy just won’t publish them. Then, if the unacceptable comments don’t appear, it would make no sense to publish the rebuttals, so those won’t appear here either. This is just common sense. Hope I didn’t step on your toes or steal your thunder, Andy.

  2. I thought the clue could refer to an animal.
After considering The Lion King and Black Panther I chose the latter

I’ve always been of the opinion that Gabon’s Coat of Arms would look really great on their flag. Maybe, someday, they will see fit to add it. Having been familiar with their Coat of Arms, I was able to come up with this without taking too much time.

Librarians usually seem to do pretty well on “Jeopardy!” so I joined Andy in rooting for Jackie. Plus, it’s always nice to have a woman win once in a while as they seem to win less frequently (not sure that’s the case but it seems that way anyway).

  4. I didn’t know the answer to FJ. Definitely a blockbuster that I didn’t see.

Retro congrats to Jackie on the win and we’ll see if she can get win #2 tomorrow night.

Be safe all. Not a lot of fun here in the LA area lately and working in Downtown LA makes it less so.

      Jeff!

You are in my thoughts at this difficult time in LA.

      • Thank you very much Rick! I appreciate that. Hopefully peaceful times come soon. Little area of Downtown LA under curfew now from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., which is a good idea.
