Today’s Final Jeopardy – Friday, July 11, 2025

Warning: This page contains spoilers for the July 11, 2025, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Historic Objects) for Friday, July 11, 2025 (Season 41, Game 220):

Described as both a “beautiful violet” & “French Blue” in the 1600s, this object went on tour in the 1900s before landing in the Smithsonian

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Edaureen Muhamad Nor, a book critic from Silver Spring, Maryland
Edaureen Muhamad Nor on Jeopardy!
Andrew Wang, a medical student from Winnetka, Illinois
Andrew Wang on Jeopardy!
Scott Riccardi, an engineer from Somerville, New Jersey (6-day total: $149,901)
Scott Riccardi on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Scott Riccardi survived a bit of a bump in the road in yesterday’s game, picking up just $4,999 after he got all four of the game’s major clues incorrect. Today, he goes for win #7 against Edaureen Muhamad Nor and Andrew Wang—much like Dan Puma earlier in the week, Andrew Wang is very well known to top quiz bowl players. We’ll see how much Scott’s game yesterday has affected him and if he’ll be able to rebound in order to sweep the week.

A common clue subject on Jeopardy!, the Hope Diamond is currently the centerpiece of the Harry Winston Gallery at the Smithsonian, after Winston donated one of the world’s largest diamonds to the Smithsonian in 1958 at the conclusion of a multi-year tour. Found in India in the 1600s, it was purchased by the French and spent most of the 17th and 18th centuries as part of the French crown jewels. Although it went missing during the French Revolution, the 45.52-carat diamond resurfaced in England in the early 19th century before making its way to the United States in the early 20th century.

Interestingly, the last time a clue about the Hope Diamond played—in a game featuring Andrew He—it fell for a Triple Stumper. We’ll see how it plays today.

  1. Both non-winners should be considered for the second chance tournament. Has a third-place finisher ever been invited to this?

    • Yes – Long Nguyen, Juveria Zaheer, Emily Kawaler, Christopher Pennant, Sadie Goldberger, rowan ward, and probably quite a few others that I’m currently forgetting!

  2. Rick Hock | July 12, 2025 at 4:33 pm |

    Hey Master Doge!

Can you answer my question I posed above to Jeff?

    Thanks, Rick

    • Hi, Rick!

It seems as though Lisa has already answered your question re; most of the big streakers, but I can very easily go through and get the rest of the 10+ game winners!

    • As promised, here are the numbers! This goes over every single player who’s won 10 games or more; Final records are included in all of these numbers, to match what Andy does on the site. (I will also give credit to him for the numbers for Ken as well as Austin Rogers onward.)

      In order, the list goes…

      James Holzhauer – 97.05% (1,186 correct, 36 incorrect)
      Matt Jackson – 95.20% (397 correct, 20 incorrect)
      Amy Schneider – 94.55% (1,337 correct, 77 incorrect)
      Jason Zuffranieri – 93.05% (576 correct, 43 incorrect)
      Cris Pannullo – 93% (664 correct, 50 incorrect)
While Cris’ accuracy rate technically does not equal 93% exactly, the actual % – 92.997% – is so close that I rounded it up so as to be consistent with how I treated the rest of the numbers (sans Adriana’s as her accuracy rate is already an exact fraction).
      Dave Madden – 92.02% (484 correct, 42 incorrect)
      Matt Amodio – 91.45% (1,305 correct, 122 incorrect)
      Mattea Roach – 91.30% (661 correct, 63 incorrect)
      Julia Collins – 91.18% (517 correct, 50 incorrect)
      Ken Jennings – 91.10% (2,693 correct, 263 incorrect)
      Seth Wilson – 90.29% (316 correct, 34 incorrect)
      Adriana Harmeyer – 90% (360 correct, 40 incorrect)
      Ray Lalonde – 89.17% (354 correct, 43 incorrect)
      Jonathan Fisher – 88.95% (306 correct, 38 incorrect)
      Austin Rogers – 88.59% (334 correct, 43 incorrect)
      Arthur Chu – 86.78% (315 correct, 48 incorrect)
      Ryan Long – 86.35% (405 correct, 64 incorrect)

Scott’s accuracy rate – 91.53% (173 correct, 16 incorrect) – would be between David Madden’s and Matt Amodio’s accuracy rates, so it’s about average-to-slightly-above-average for a 10+ game winner. However, Scott has also missed many more Daily Doubles than those champions tended to, which only brings his average down further – if his success rate on those looked similar to the 10+ game winners’ success on them, I’m assuming his accuracy rate would be around 93% to 94%, or pretty close to Amy Schneider.
