Today’s Final Jeopardy – Friday, October 24, 2025

Warning: This page contains spoilers for the October 24, 2025, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Relics) for Friday, October 24, 2025 (Season 42, Game 35):

Missionary William Ellis reported in 1825 that his “bones were preserved… & were considered sacred by the people” of Hawaii

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Shaan Mishra, a management consultant from Carmel, Indiana
Shaan Mishra on Jeopardy!
Kristina Pohribnij, a stay-at-home mom from Palatine, Illinois
Kristina Pohribnij on Jeopardy!
Tom Devlin, an attorney from Washington, D.C. (3-day total: $73,199)
Tom Devlin on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

As we near the end of Week #7 of Season 42, Tom Devlin has had three very strong games (and victories); today, he goes for victory #4 against a couple of Midwesterners: Shaan Mishra of Indiana and Kristina Pohribnij of Illinois. A win today would mathematically clinch a Tournament of Champions spot for Tom (though, to be frank, with where he is now, it would take an incredibly improbable set of circumstances to relegate him to Champions Wildcard).

One further point today: I honestly find it quite creepy (and an obvious plagiarism trap) when other websites think that it’s appropriate to reprint aspects of my personal life on their websites, even more so when it seems to be that AI slop factories can’t seem to tell the difference between what is publication-worthy and what isn’t.

Correct response: Who is Captain James Cook?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2025 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Due to the fact that Captain James Cook’s first arrival on the Hawaiian Islands coincided with Makahiki (a celebration of fertility and the yearly harvest), Cook was mistaken for their god Lono. Thus, he was venerated on the islands, even after his death in 1779 there, after Cook attempted to take their ruling chief, Kalaniʻōpuʻu, hostage in retaliation for stealing a British ship.

I found today’s Final Jeopardy clue to be relatively straightforward; the show definitely likes to use Captain Cook’s association with Hawaii as a clue (and Final Jeopardy) subject.

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • Normally I’d be annoyed with a $400 clue selection when searching for a Daily Double, but when the search has been going on for a while, I don’t hate picking the $400 clue in a straightforward academic category like WOMEN AUTHORS instead of a potential wordplay category in the sixth column.
  • Today’s J!6 clues can be found at the monthly archive.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Tom $22,800 Shaan $15,600 Kristina $10,800)

Tom: Standard cover bet over Shaan is $8,401, and I’ll never fault a contestant for betting on themself here. However, if you have a really strong read on Shaan either not liking the category or making a small bet here, you could consider betting between $2 and $1,198, hoping for a favorable outcome for you in Final. (Actual bet: $8,401)

Kristina: You have to be correct to have a chance of winning. That said, I would bet at least $6,001 here as that covers Shaan’s entire low-bet range. (Actual bet: $5,000)

Shaan: You’re in Stratton’s Dilemma; you can’t both cover Kristina and win a Triple Stumper at the same time. If you’d rather play for the Triple Stumper, bet between $0 and $1,199. Unfortunately, though, Kristina has reason to go all in—which means you might have to go all in yourself to force a cover bet out of Tom. (Actual bet: $0)

3 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – Friday, October 24, 2025"

  1. I guessed Cook correctly mainly because I couldn’t remember any of the really long Hawaiian names I thought it might have been. And as Andy said, Jeopardy likes to use Hawaii as a clue in many ‘Cook’ answers.

  2. I guessed Father Damien, having been influenced by the word “missionary” in the clue. Turns out he wasn’t born until 1840.

  3. Capt. Cook was the only name which came to mind.
