Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category World Organizations) for Thursday, October 9, 2025 (Season 42, Game 24):

Passing on in 2025, Aliza Magen, who helped track down terrorists in the 1972 Munich attack, became this agency’s top-ranking woman

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Grace Batiste, a marketing manager originally from Chicago, Illinois
Grace Batiste on Jeopardy!
Spencer Janes, a program manager originally from Longmeadow, Massachusetts
Spencer Janes on Jeopardy!
TJ Fisher, a marketing specialist from San Francisco, California (5-day total: $100,723)
TJ Fisher on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

TJ Fisher is now a 5-day Jeopardy! champion following an incredibly dramatic Final Jeopardy Round in yesterday’s game. Today, he looks to make it an even half-dozen victories against Spencer Janes and Grace Batiste.

I have to say, the idea of “from” versus “originally from” is one where my viewpoint has changed over the years. Certainly, I have spent much of my fandom preferring “from”, and that is what I could use if I were to somehow make it to the Alex Trebek Stage, the proliferation of Internet stalking has made the use of “originally from” much more attractive to many, to obfuscate their whereabouts just enough.

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2025 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Aliza Magen spent most of the 1990s as the deputy director of Mossad, Israel’s national intelligence agency. Prior to that, she spent time working on “Operation Wrath of God” for Mossad, the Israeli retaliation campaign against Palestinians for the attack against Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

The biggest issue with this clue is that unless you actually know this material, there’s really no way to determine whether the correct responses is Mossad or Interpol. I’ve often defended harder Final Jeopardy clues on this platform by saying that it’s about a subject that the show thinks viewers should know more about, and I think the show here has significantly overestimated how much they think home viewers—especially those in the younger demographics that the show so covets—are actually going to view today’s Final Jeopardy clue positively, and I think this is ultimately another case where I think it’s not apparent if the writer’s room is aware of how younger generations view the world. Certainly, if I were on Jeopardy!‘s social team, I might consider not posting today’s Final Jeopardy round to TikTok, lest the comment section be overwhelmed with watermelons.

Andy’s Thoughts:

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Spencer $17,000 TJ $14,400 Grace $5,200)

TJ: Bet between $2,601 and $3,999 and hope for a Triple Stumper. (Actual bet: $9,199)

Spencer: Standard cover bet is $11,801. I would recommend not going more than this, because if you’re wrong, you fall $1 below Grace’s total, and this forces her to stand pat. (Actual bet: $12,000)

Grace: If Spencer covers and is incorrect, he falls to $1 below your total. Your best chance of victory is TJ betting too much + and a Triple Stumper. Bet $0. (Actual bet: $5,000)

7 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – Thursday, October 9, 2025"

  1. I’m not a fan of this clue, and not just because I got it wrong. Is a single country’s intelligence agency a “World Organization”? Are the CIA, NSA, or FBI “World Organizations”?

    • I agree. World Organization doesn’t fit the bill.
I did get this though because I watched the movie Munich and was quiet fresh in my mind.

    • I think you are confusing world organization with international organization. World organization just means it’s somewhere in the world – not somewhere that is in multiple countries.

  2. I thought this was an easy clue because I watched NCIS. The final Jeopardy clues have been difficult lately so I’m glad I finally got one.

  3. I concur with Nick and Raul; I think labeling this as “World Organizations” is incredibly misleading for the contestants and viewers. When you say “World Organizations” most people would think of the UN, UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, etc. I understand the argument that labeling it “National Agencies” or something similar may be a bit too specific, but as constituted, it isn’t a particularly effective category.

  4. I guessed Mossad as I hear about them now and then. Plus, I saw a film about Mossad catching up with Eichmann in Argentina.

  5. After the first thought of Mossad, I picked Interpol because the name Aliza did not sound Jewish to me.
