Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Geography) for April 4-5, 2026 (Season 41, Game 71):

Jebel Musa in Morocco & Mount Hacho near Ceuta are candidates for the southern half of this pair

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Matt Grossman on Jeopardy!
Henry Barbaro, a college student from Evanston, Illinois
Henry Barbaro on Jeopardy!
Ashley Chan, a publicist from Lewisville, Texas (2-day total: $29,100)
Ashley Chan on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

While Jamie Ding continues to rack up significant money on weekdays, our weekend encore presentation this week continues looking at December 2024; this game saw Ashley Chan take on Henry Barbaro and Matt Grossman.

As I mentioned back when this game originally aired, I was not happy at all with how the show chose to open today’s game, talking about how Ashley made “an unconventional wager” in the previous game on Friday. I said it then and I’ll say it again: one of the significant advantages of not making a cover bet is that the surprise factor effectively resets itself at the start of each tape day. In my opinion, if the show wants there to be more suspense as to what the leader might do in Final Jeopardy—and I think it’s a very good idea for there to be that suspense—it should not tip off to new challengers that the leader is doing this, because it takes away that major advantage.

Correct response: What are the Pillars of Hercules?

Known since ancient times, the Pillars of Hercules is the traditional name of the two sides of the Strait of Gibraltar connecting the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Its north half is the Rock of Gibraltar, but there is no single prominence in North Africa that can definitively be used as the southern half. The two most likely candidates—Jebel Musa in Morocco and Mount Hacho near Ceuta—were both mentioned in the clue.

As someone strong in geography, this was a very straightforward clue for me; however, geography is not everyone’s strong suit, which led to the eventual on-set struggles with this clue back in December 2024.

Game Recap:

Ashley’s propensity to not make a cover bet in Final Jeopardy proved to be immaterial in this game, as she picked up two dozen correct responses, which was enough to insulate her from both a missed True Daily Double of her own early on, as well as Matt doubling up himself midway through the Double Jeopardy Round.

None of our three players got the Final Jeopardy clue correct today, with Ashley choosing to stand pat in Final Jeopardy to pick up win #3. Next week sees her go for victory #4 against Jordan Carr Peterson and Jasmine Zhou.

Scores going into Final:

Ashley $17,400
Matt $7,200
Henry $2,000

Tonight’s results:

Henry $2,000 – $2,000 = $0 (What is I had fun)
Matt $7,200 – $2,000 = $5,200 (What are Straits of Gibraltar)
Ashley $17,400 – $0 = $17,400 (What are Everest + K2?) (3-day total: $46,500)

Ashley Chan, today's Jeopardy! winner (for the April 4-5, 2026 game.)

Game Stats:

Ashley $19,400 Coryat, 24 correct, 2 incorrect, 43.86% in first on buzzer (25/57), 0/0 on rebound attempts (on 2 rebound opportunities)
Matt $6,400 Coryat, 11 correct, 2 incorrect, 17.54% in first on buzzer (10/57), 1/1 on rebound attempts (on 2 rebound opportunities)
Henry $2,000 Coryat, 9 correct, 2 incorrect, 17.54% in first on buzzer (10/57), 0/1 on rebound attempts (on 2 rebound opportunities)
Combined Coryat Score: $27,800
