Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Will the Jeopardy! universe see a retired five-time champion for the first time since the summer of 2003? One Baddie After Another certainly hopes so, as they take on The Problem Solvers and The Oneders.
I have to say, I am extremely disappointed in the moderators over on r/Jeopardy this week for their complete inability to realize that the vast majority of the criticism of our current champions is coming solely due to the race of one of the team members. There are too many people in America who just can not stomach the thought of a black man being knowledgeable and the inability of the moderator team of r/Jeopardy to stop this veiled racism on the subreddit is just sickening, in my opinion.

The name Pikachu—the most well-known species of Pokémon thanks to its role as the companion of Ash Ketchum in the anime series—gets its name from two Japanese onomatopoeic terms—”pika” for the electric spark and “chu” for a mouse’s sound.

Game Recap & Tonight’s Game Stats:
Here’s the recap for Season 2, Episode 5:
Jeopardy! Round:
(Categories: Pixar Makes Us Cry; The Internet’s Boyfriend; Stupid Answers; TV Rewind; Bees; In The Trap Music)
The Oneders were so excited to find the Daily Double…and then they bet just 1,500 of their 4,000 points. To be quite frank: this is not the way you play against a team who has won four games in dominant runaway fashion If you actually want to beat them. While The Oneders did lead after 30, I can’t help but wonder if their lead should have been bigger. (On the opening board, the Oneders went 3/5 in Stupid Answers and trap music, while The Problem Solvers went 3/5 in Pixar movies and the Baddies ran TV Rewind and went 3/5 in bees.)
Today’s interviews:
The Oneders are very obnoxious about “That Thing You Do!”.
The Problem Solvers are big “30 Rock” fans, despite getting the clue incorrect about the show.
One Baddie After Another had a “reverse Slumdog” moment with their first Daily Double in Game 1.
Statistics after the Jeopardy round:
The Oneders 11 correct 0 incorrect
One Baddie After Another 13 correct 2 incorrect
The Problem Solvers 5 correct 3 incorrect
Scores after the Jeopardy! Round:
The Oneders 7,900
One Baddie After Another 5,400
The Problem Solvers 1,000
Double Jeopardy! Round:
(Categories: Broadway On The Big Screen; TV Show Change A Letter; Ferries; Feeling Sporty; My Breakup Anthems; I Want To Go To There)
One Baddie After Another, finding a category they were doing well in, went for the True Daily Double on DD2, giving themselves a very big lead. While they managed to upset Twi-hards everywhere with not knowing where those books were set, losing 5,000 on DD3, they still led entering Final (but it would have been a runaway had they been correct on DD3.) On the second board, The Oneders went 3/5 in Feeling Sporty; One Baddie After Another went 4/5 in TV Show Change A Letter and 3/5 in Ferries and I Want To Go To There.
Statistics after Double Jeopardy:
One Baddie After Another 26 correct 3 incorrect
The Oneders 19 correct 1 incorrect
The Problem Solvers 10 correct 3 incorrect
Scores going into Final:
One Baddie After Another 25,800
The Oneders 16,700
The Problem Solvers 7,000
And, of course, this Final Jeopardy falls for a triple get, meaning that One Baddie After Another are now 5-time champions. We’ll see them again the first week of June, while we get 3 new teams on Monday.
Tonight’s results:
The Problem Solvers 7,000 + 6,689 = 13,689 (What is Pikachu)
The Oneders 16,700 + 16,700 = 33,400 (What is Pikachu?!)
One Baddie After Another 25,800 + 8,000 = 33,800 (What is Pikachu?) (Quarter-Finalist)

Andy’s Thoughts:
- I can’t help but think that had the Baddies had a smaller lead going into the third Daily Double that they may have bet more at that point to try to put the game away, and potentially put themselves In a much more vulnerable position. But that was not to be—certainly, I still think that The Oneders could have played their first Daily Double much better and I found myself quite disappointed by their strategy.
Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:
(Scores: One Baddie After Another 25,800 The Oneders 16,700 The Problem Solvers 7,000)
One Baddie After Another: Standard cover bet is 7,601 points. (Actual bet: 8,000)
The Problem Solvers: Bet whatever you like here, as you can’t win without a significant overbet from the leaders, but you might want to avoid betting everything in case The Oneders do. (Actual bet: 6,689)
The Oneders: You have to be correct and bet at least 1,500 to have a chance at victory. You could limit your bet to 2,699 if you wanted to keep The Problem Solvers locked out for second, but not knowing what the consolation prizes are (if any), it’s hard to make wagering suggestions on that end. (Actual bet: 16,700)
