Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Jeopardy!‘s weekend encore presentation this week features a game that I think a lot of people will remember fondly from last season: 8-game champion Laura Faddah going for win #9 against microcrochet artist Sabrina Blanks and worldwide karaoke singer Harvey Silikovitz. Harvey’s interview in this game, where he talks about his diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease in 2019 makes today’s game one of the most memorable in the entire history of the show, making Harvey’s performance being all the more impressive. Harvey’s contestant journey also featured prominently in Claire McNear’s book Answers in the Form of Questions.

From the August 2024 Liberian declaration of Flag Day, “the Liberian Flag consists of six red stripes and five alternating white stripes, totaling eleven stripes, each representing one of the eleven signers of the Declaration of Independence of Liberia; the blue field, in the upper left corner of a rectangular form with a single white star in the center of the blue field, depicting Liberia as the then only independent state on the continent of Africa; the color red symbolizes the blood of those who died in the struggle for independence; the color white indicates the purity of mind of all our fore bearers toward each other; and the Blue for the dark continent of Africa as it was then depicted, the Proclamation further declared.”

This game saw Harvey Silikovitz put on one of the most impressive debut performances in the history of the Alex Trebek Stage, with our karaoke superstar picking up 35 correct and a $31,200 Coryat score en route to a dominant runaway victory. The only disappointment was that Harvey didn’t get Final Jeopardy correct, dropping his payday down to $23,600 from a potential $50,000.

Next week will feature Harvey going for victory #2 against Emily Johnson and James Corson.
