Deja deja deja deja vu

If you’ve been watching baseball too, you know exactly where you’ve heard the words in this title. It’s below, in case you haven’t been watching baseball!
One season 25 Coryat to report: 21800 on the episode originally airing 1-30-09 (27400 without negs). I’d like to have this one back, but it was sorta convenient that I watched it just before today’s new episode – The rerun’s A Place for My Stuff contained two responses that came up today, too, in That’s a Keeper. One I got, the other I didn’t.
By the way, check out the new poll below.
     Today’s contestants:

Glenn Fleishman of Seattle WA
Matt Oldani of St. Louis MO (Yes, Johnny said “bear foundations.”)
Abby O’Reilly of Clifton NJ

One of the champs on this year’s panel at the unofficial Jeopardy! reunion said he intentionally modified his job title to be more interesting, and he sort of encouraged that.
Glenn was a one-time champ when the show began, having defeated the woman who defeated Stephanie Jass.
Is it just me or have there been a lot of “novel” categories lately?
Everybody was off to a very good start by the first break. Glenn had answered 6 right and had 2800. Matt had answered 5 and had 2600. Abby had answered 4 and had 2200.
Like the Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy rounds yesterday, the last clue of today’s Jeopardy round was the Daily Double. Abby found it this time, in That’s a Keeper. She’d gotten 4 right since the break and had 5400. Glenn and Matt each negged once. Glenn had gotten 7 right (6200) and Matt had gotten 3 right (3600). How much would you have wagered if you were Abby? She wagered a random-seeming 1000. Here’s the clue: “The name of this large cabinet reveals its original use for keeping weapons.” This is one of the two responses I alluded to above from the season 25 rerun. I got it right this time. Abby did not have a response, so I guess it was for the best that she lost just 1000.
Did anyone else think of this commercial when The Worldwide World Wide Web was revealed? And by the way, is that Tom Everett Scott? It sure looks like him but I can’t believe he’d appear in this commercial.

Like yesterday, I had no negs in the Jeopardy round, but I kicked off Double Jeopardy with one in 18th Century America: “In 1763 England received Florida from this country in exchange for Havana.” When the round ended, I had one neg in each row. Maybe if I was forced to list my negs including my incorrect responses, I’d have fewer of them…? I might give that a try.
Now you may recall I was eager to see more of Glenn’s wagering. Well he found the first Daily Double of the Double Jeopardy round, in 18th Century America. He’d answered 3 right in the category, and had 9000. Abby had gotten one wrong (that wound up being a triple-stumper), and had 3200. So what did Glenn do? He wagered 3000 on this clue: “One of these acts passed in 1798 called for the deportation of foreigners considered dangerous.” He got it!
Lucky us, Glenn found the next Daily Double too. He had gotten 6 right since his last Daily Double and had 16400. Abby had gotten 5 right and had 9200. Matt had gotten 3 right and one wrong and had 5600. Glenn wagered 3000 again on this clue in Nonfiction Pulitzer Winners: “He won a Pulitzer for his nonfiction ‘The Armies of the Night’ as well as for his fictional ‘The Executioner’s Song.'” Glenn missed this one.
Was it just me or was 7-Letter Words surprisingly difficult? I was 0/5. This was the last category of the round. Glenn had gotten 4 right since his second Daily Double and had 18600. Abby  had gotten 2 right. Matt still had 5600. How would Glenn wager this time? Maybe things will be different since he’s in the lead.
The Final Jeopardy category was Cable TV Firsts. Maybe it’s me but I got this one instantly: “When Turner Classic Movies began broadcasting April 14,1994, the first movie shown was this one.” Only Matt got it right. Like Glenn yesterday, he wagered all but a dollar. Abby lost all but a dollar!! Weren’t they in the audience for the previous episode?! Anyway Glenn made the traditional wager as the leader, to cover the second place person. So he had enough to win as long as Abby and Matt both missed. So we’ll see what he does Monday.
As for Matt, at least he’s got the Cardinals, to which he referred in his hometown howdy. Since a win tonight would give them the National League pennant, I wonder if Matt’s plans were thwarted!
My Coryat today was 18600; 24600 without negs.
