Heather played on Monday, January 28th. Thanks, Heather!
Q: I didn’t know “Medea,” “gull,” “mandrill,” or “Krantz.”
A: Well, I grew up on the East Coast of Florida so ‘gull’ was a natural for me. I knew ‘mandrill’ from going to the Jacksonville Zoo as a child where they had mandrills. I knew the Medea and Jason story as I had reviewed the major mythological stories specifically for the game. And Fiction is probably my best category so ‘Women’s Authors’ was a great category for me- I would have run it if I had beat Josh on the buzzer on the Anne Rice question. I’m an avid reader and belong to an all-women’s book club and we read a LOT of women’s authors.
Q: How did you decide on your Final Jeopardy response and wager? If you’d have gotten the last clue of the Double Jeopardy round, worth 2000, you’d have been tied with Joshua going into the Final. How would you have wagered on the Final in that case?
A: I did not know Final Jeopardy and kind of floundered for a response. I knew my answer wasn’t right but hated not to put down anything- pretty funny that Josh put down the same answer. I only wagered enough ($2,001) to beat Josh if I knew it and he didn’t. I knew music wasn’t a strong category for him (he missed ‘Funny Girl’ the day before, didn’t know Sondheim, etc.). If I had known the Swaziland dude and ended up tying Josh, I would have bet $0 and I think Josh would have also to guarantee being a co-champion.
Q: The Teen Tournament started this week. Did they start filming those episodes the same day they filmed yours? (How does that work?)
A: They did not film the Teen Tournament while we were there. They taped the next show with Josh as champion right after. [T]hey tape 5 shows on Tues. and 5 shows on Wed. – so they taped 5 shows that day with the “regular” Jeopardy contestants. The “break” that they say they are taking is kind of a “fake one”. They tape the Teen Tournament all together and then “insert” it between the 5 shows we taped in one day to take advantage of sweeps week.
